So I will temper this by saying two things; I’m from New York and work in food service so I have a higher standard for restaurants, and I made the wrong type of reservation.
Starting off with the positive notes! First off, the drinks and the bartender were lovely. I had the passion fruit cocktail and a glass of the Nebbiolo. I highly recommend both. I got the beef fillet option for dinner, which was cooked to perfection! And obviously, the view is amazing.
Onto the negative aspects. When I made the reservation, I chose the Skybar option, assuming we could eat on terrace but apparently I should’ve made it for the indoor restaurant. That’s 100% my bad! Though that wasn’t clear on the website. It took them 45 minutes to put together a table for us to eat and it took the bar 25 minutes for 4 cocktails. Once again, I’m from New York and I’m a bartender, so my expectations are high, but it shouldn’t take 25 minutes for 4 cocktails when all I saw coming out of the bar previously was a few aperol spritz and a few glasses of wine.
When we were finally sat at the table, it took 15/20 minutes for them to approach us for our water order. Then another 15 to ask for our food and drink order. I understand Italian service is slower than American service, that being said, we haven’t encountered this issue at any other restaurant in the past 2 weeks. My mother and my uncle ordered the cod appetizer and the mixed salad. They didn’t bring out olive oil or balsamic until my mom was halfway through her salad when the dressing should’ve been brought before her salad even hit the table. Then they brought our entrees when the appetizers weren’t cleared and we were not set with the appropriate flatware. This wouldn’t normally bother me, but for the higher prices and them touting an elevated experience, it did not even remotely reach that. And while my meat was cooked a perfect medium rare, they said it came with a ratatouille—and that is a huge stretch for what I received. It’s a couple spoonfuls of peas, carrots and potatoes. Mixed vegetables would be a more accurate description. We decided against getting dessert since we just wanted to leave at that point.
I understand restaurants have off nights which I’m assuming that’s what tonight was considering how great the reviews are, but it was our last night on our family vacation and we were sorely...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I recently had the misfortune of dining here, and it was, without a doubt, one of the worst experiences we've ever had.
The service was beyond terrible. We waited an entire hour just to get our drinks—absolutely ridiculous. To make matters worse, no one even bothered to bring us a food menu. It took us asking twice, several eyerolls from the waitress and over an hour just to get a menu! During this time, we witnessed two other groups leave before even getting their first drinks, and honestly, I wish we had done the same. The excuse from the manager? They were "extremely busy." Busy doing what, exactly? There were barely any other customers as the restaurant was only about 25% full!
When we finally received the food menu, a new low: we were told we had to move inside because we apparently couldn’t dine at our current table. This wasn’t communicated when we were seated, but was due to some rule about only being allowed drinks on the terrace and food inside. The food did eventually arrive, the risotto was undercooked and the 'king prawns' were actually just regular prawns. The steak was ok but definitely not worth the price.
After confessing our disappointment and confusions about the experience and a discussion with the manager we did receive our first cocktails free.
This was hands-down the most disorganized, frustrating, and disappointing dining experience we’ve ever had. Save yourself the time and money, and avoid this place...
Read moreThe hotel is a bit dated but the terrace views are amazing for sunset. Wanted to come here for aperitivo but the terrace was booked out by a private party, so we didn’t get to take sunset photos or try any of the bar’s creations this time (could only order wine).
To be honest the indoor seating was not too comfortable, the AC did not seem to be working fully and the mosquitos would not stop bothering us (perhaps because we were the only table there at the time). We decided to stay anyways as we were hungry and had already sat down, and ended up only ordering two entrees: spaghetti with clams and a seafood risotto.
The spaghetti was very flavorful, but the clams still had quite a bit of sand and we had to send it back to the kitchen. The risotto wasn’t spectacular but it was also quite tasty with a decent consistency.
But the main reason for these 5 stars isn’t from the food or the ambiance and views, but because the staff had comped our meal due to the minor inconveniences we faced at the beginning of the meal, as they weren’t quite able to address them. It would’ve been fine if the spaghetti had merely been taken off the bill, but I am deeply touched by their generosity and consideration. I was able to thank the chef personally and hope to return next time to properly enjoy the...
