Laterano Caffè — Restaurant in Rome

This caffè has been absolutely fantastic.

The owner is very nice and works hard. Today, my friend ordered an espresso drink that he put so much effort into creating (wish I took a picture!) and unfortunately dropped it on the floor. Not only did the owner come and tell us to stop trying to clean it up, in a polite way, he brought her a different drink free of charge.

All workers we have come across in our multiple visits here are kind and speak at least a little English.

As an American tourist, who has tried a lot of gelato here over my past three stays, I will say this is one of the best gelato places I have been to. I decided to try the chocolate and strawberry combo, which I was unsure of, but as I had hoped it tasted like a chocolate covered strawberry!

It is reasonably priced, has a great location, and has plenty of indoor seating, as well as some tables...

Went to this "small Cafe with a very big heart" for Cappuccino/croissants and were completely floored by the quality and the very friendly vibe. Very gracious and friendly staff. We were so impressed that we not only had seconds of the Cappuccino & Croissants, but went back for lunch. A definite go to place when back in Rome - tossed a couple of coins in the Trevi Fountain to make sure 😀. They have a few tables/chairs outside and a very nice and secluded indoor seating area. Came here after going to visit The Basilica of St John, and the emotional experience of the Holy Stairs at The Pontifical Sanctuary I was emotionally drawn out and oddly, very hungry. The AMAZING sandwich I had at Laterano not only got rid of my early morning hunger, it helped replenish my soul. My sandwich had a very tasty chicory and red pepper mix wrapped with a focaccia bread and flavorful cheese. I walked a few blocks before getting into my Sandwich and it was still pretty warm.
