Mazzo is hands down the best meal I had in Rome. This place stands out from the usual rustic spots around the city—it's cool, modern, and exactly the kind of place you'd bring friends who appreciate both style and substance. The atmosphere is sleek and energetic, perfect for a lively night out without the traditional old-world décor.
The wine list is on point, with excellent pairings that elevate their bold and inventive dishes. The pasta? Pure perfection. Cooked to a toothsome al dente, it might be a touch firm for some, but for me, it hit the perfect Italian note. Each bite was a masterclass in how pasta should be done—brimming with flavor and authenticity.
The staff at Mazzo are fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. They guided me through my selection of wine with care, making sure I got the most out of my experience. Their warm hospitality made the entire evening feel special.
Mazzo is seriously changing the game for dining in Rome. The mix of cool vibes and amazing food is such a nice change from the usual spots with the same old dishes, and it's 100% worth adding to your list if you're into good eats. Honestly, I'm not the only one who thinks so—other reviews online are raving about how Mazzo nails that blend of classic and modern, and I...
Read moreI came with great expectations due to the hype around this small restaurant hidden in the narrow streets of San Lorenzo. The place Is Simply Styles but with an appreciated minimalistic touch in the furniture. The service was good, the dishes were good in general. The peak arrived with the starter, the fried tripe was very good, cruncy and flavourful without being oily and heavy to digest. Then the tartare was Also vary tasty with a sauce on top which made It very balanced. The fried artichocke was good and the Mayo on side was even Better. The bad came with the main courses. The pork chop was a bit top firm and chewy, and being It braised i expected It to be very soft and tender. Also to much fat, hard to chew. Then the breaded cutlet we got was good, crispy and tender enough, but the sauce was awful, warm cooking cream with champignon floating in the middle...something i would have in the '80s, they could have done Better, especially After what we saw with the starters. The dessert was luckly very good, bread cake with zabaione. Reccomend. Generally good but they can improve, Also considerig the very high prices. More than 100€ for 3 appetizers, 2 mains and 1 dessert. We did not have wine...
Read moreDid we find ourselves back in Brooklyn? That’s the vibes Mazzo is giving with the vinyl and exposed kitchen. We both enjoyed the rosso and got a second glass of that. In terms of food, we wish they had the famous tripe available to order! Too bad. I believe their menu changes often which is why a lot of the photos from google review were t available to order. We got the bbq’ed mortadella to share (much larger than expected and prob would not recommend since it wasn’t that unique and took up a lot of stomach space. Next we got the wagon wheels pasta which was decent for me but my husband enjoyed very much. Then we shared the roasted lettuce for some veggies - mediocre and very filling due to the tahini sauce. Lastly, we got the pork neck steak which was very delicious 10/10 recommend. Wish we could try the tripe or the diaphragm on the next trip. Overall pretty good meal, but we could have ordered better - bonus points for being able to try something different in Rome rather than just the ubiquitous carbonara and...
