I have never had a better Michelin dining experience! Moma is an absolute must visit restaurant. From the moment we entered, the amazing hostess Evelyn was kind, welcoming, and had as sitting at the bar for her hand crafted cocktails. Our table wasn't quite ready, so she spent the next 10 minutes chatting with us and making a genuine human connection!
When they escorted us to our table upstairs, I was so impressed with the overall feel of the dining room. It had a cozy but refined look. We decided on the tasting menu, and I can honestly say this was the best progression of dishes I've ever had! There wasn't one dish that didn't sing with harmony and flavor.
More specifically, the cuttlefish puttanesca was an absolute mastery of Italian deliciousness! Just one swipe of the sauce incorporated all the traditional puttanesca flavors. However, what impressed me the most (a person who's not overly fond of vegetables) was the Our seasonal garden dish. I absolutely can not impress the level of thought and creativity that went into this dish! Every vegetable had a different texture and cook to it. Some were crunchy, some pickled, some fresh, and this was all on top of a sauce that had a beautiful crunchy-"soil" like texture. I'd go back just for that dish alone!
As with any Michelin restaurant, the service is something that can make or break the overall experience. And Moma took dining care to a whole other level of awesomeness! The wait staff expertly explained each dish slowly and took time to answer any questions patiently and honestly. They had us laughing and never let a wine or water glass go empty. They also employ what can only be described as a Napkin Ninja - that gentleman had a fresh napkin on the table after anyone used the bathroom. But he did it so quickly that I swear he must have had access to dimensional portals!
Overall, if you're in Rome, I would HIGHLY suggest visiting Moma. It's a must visit for...
Read moreAlthough some things may seem trivial, this review is based on fine dining expectations and the restaurant’s status as a one Michelin star establishment. I had the Moma Signature Tasting Menu.
Food – 4/5 The progression of dishes and flavors was well-curated. The tortellini was a standout—expertly crafted, nearly translucent, and delicately plated. The risotto delivered a beautifully layered flavor profile with umami, smokiness, sweetness, and creaminess. The crispy fish skin added great texture, though the rice itself was inconsistent—some parts were al dente, others slightly overcooked. The pigeon was the most memorable dish. The breast was cooked medium rare and served in a rich foie gras sauce, while the leg, seasoned with gooseberry powder, brought a tart note that cut through the richness perfectly. A sophisticated and satisfying progression.
Wine – Not Rated I did enjoy the wine pairings and sipped along the way, though I don’t consider myself a wine expert and won’t formally rate them.
Service – 3/5 Staff were friendly and polite, offering to take our bags when we were seated and engaging pleasantly at the end of the meal. There was, however, a mix-up with the dessert wine—other tables with the same tasting menu received a glass, but we did not. When my wife inquired, we were told the pairing included only five glasses. The sommelier quickly offered her one, though it’s unclear if we were charged. While the issue was promptly addressed, it should not have occurred at this level.
Atmosphere – 3/5 The space is sleek and modern, but the main dining area is located right next to the central console and billing station, which felt both visually and physically distracting. The servers are quick to let you pass through, but the issue seems to stem from limited space. We also noticed two fruit flies on our table. Bathrooms were clean and stocked with towels, though no additional amenities...
Read moreWhat a gem of a place, and reasonably priced for an unforgettably amazing evening.
Went with a party of 6 on a Tuesday for a birthday surprise celebration. Sent a message to the restaurant prior to our visit and arranged for a little surprise for the birthday person. The restaurant seemed to be full, but hard to say as I didn't get the opportunity to walk through the "rooms"...
Allergies and specific dietary requests were taken serious and flawlessly taken care off during service.
Flow of dishes was perfect timed (we had the one of the taster menu's) which often is the straw that would break the camels back as a whole experience, but here it was spot on. We were also asked during dinner if we wanted a "pause" before the next dish or if we wanted to continue on. Amazing!
All dishes were spotless and it got better and better as the evening moved on. Based on personal taste preferences, I can not talk on behalf of everyone and will leave my own taste comments out of the review as it's irrelevant, but the general consensus was very positive by the whole table...
Service was very attentive, through out the evening and extremely professional and knowledgeable when asking about specifics around the dishes and wines.
On average it cost EUR 200 per person which is an unbeatable deal at this level (including, a bottle of spumante as aperitif for all and wine pairings for 5 of the 6 guests) which included the smaller of the taster menus (it takes time to get through it all).
If fine dining is scaring you off, this would be a great place to start, as it's very relaxed and down to earth. The food speaks for its self...
So, we will without doubt swing by next time we're in Rome as this is just an amazing place with amazing staff and great location (if staying in the Termini area)....
