Mordi Sandwichouse® — Restaurant in Rome

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have rarely encountered someone as rude as the restaurant owner (a woman). I even feel like we might have been victims of some form of discrimination.

The food itself isn’t bad, but the experience—though brief—was very unpleasant. The owner initially refused to remove certain items from my order and only did so reluctantly.

Later, when I went to buy another sandwich, she refused to take my order, claiming that another family was ahead of me, which was not true. I tried to explain that I had arrived before them, and she only believed me after another couple confirmed I was indeed first. Even then, she hesitated about whose order to take and eventually told her colleague to handle mine while she served the family.

Not a single smile or kind word. She also mentioned that I had already purchased three sandwiches earlier, and I didn’t understand her point—do I not have the right to buy more? Is there a limit on how many sandwiches...

Hands down one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients. Just a few minutes walks from the Vatican we decided to visit after a tiring tour of the Vatican museum. The place is very small with just around 6-7 bar stools inside. Menu is quite limited but when you serve quality food you don’t really need that many variations. We had the mortadella with pesto, the burchetta and the pizza morotadella pistachio. All were prepared and toasted in front of us in minutes and luckily we managed to find some seats inside as there isn’t any outdoor seating. Definitely recommend to have your sandwich with white wine which brings out the simple flavors even more. Definitely recommend and definitely worth a second, third, forth visit. My husband got the burrata sandwich which was great - good quality ingredients and well balanced. I got the caprese which was not good at all. The lettuce wilted and the mayo tasted off after being heated up. Unfortunately it didn’t say anywhere that that sandwich is being served hot or I wouldn’t have ordered it due to the lettuce and mayo.

Additionally and what frustrated me the most is that I asked to make one substitution and was told that they don’t make changes. However, the next customer - who was a man - asked for a change to his sandwich which they happily accommodated.
