As Asian tourists visiting Italy, we experienced something at this restaurant that left us truly shocked and hurt. We arrived and were told to wait outside, despite the fact that there were clearly empty tables inside. We waited patiently, giving them the benefit of the doubt. But then we saw several groups of white customers walk in after us — and the staff immediately greeted them with smiles, warmly welcomed them, and seated them right away. No waiting. No questions. After seeing this happen multiple times, I went back inside to politely ask if we were still supposed to wait. Instead of any explanation or courtesy, the staff responded with a cold and dismissive tone, and even made a hand gesture telling us to go back outside. It was clear we were not welcome. The contrast in how we were treated compared to the other guests was undeniable. Friendly and immediate service for white customers, and cold rejection for us. This wasn’t a misunderstanding — it was open discrimination.

We had a wonderful evening at Osteria Al Vicolo 9, and so glad we went here for our last meal of our holiday! 🍝 We ordered the spaghetti alla nerano (super underrated zucchini pasta) and spaghetti cozze pachino e pecorino (spaghetti with mussels in tomato sauce) and loved both. We were full after the two pastas, as we didn’t opt for the table bread (which costs €2). 🍷 We got the house red which was a lovely light wine and we felt it went well with the pastas. The service was attentive and lovely. They brought us extra plates for our mussels shells and extra wine glasses to share, and turned on the heater for us! We arrived early and they sat us before their restaurant even opened. We liked that this spot was a bit away from the other restaurants, it was a gem of a find. Highly recommend!

It was my first time in Rome and I was excited to go to this restaurant since a friend from NYC recommended it. I went out for dinner by myself to treat me with good food and wine. Unfortunately, the waiter with glasses wasn’t friendly. He asked me if there were more people joining me. I told him it was only me. He made me feel so unwelcome when he said that he could give me a table but I had to eat and leave as soon as I am done with my meal. It was just a little after 7 pm and they weren’t that busy. I gave the restaurant a try since my friend recommended it. The food was ok.. and definitely I am not coming back to this restaurant. I am glad that I found other nice restaurants in that area with friendly staff and much better food. Do not recommend. 👎 👎👎

OK, so we came here after reading rave reviews... hmmm.. maybe we just expected better? The pasta was well undercooked and tasted bland.. service.. well we had a little comedic incident, they brought us some complimentary bread in a paper bag (that was unusual however we suspect had a purpose), we asked for some butter and a 'couple' of plates, the waitress brought 3 plates as we were 3 people and then proceeded to tell me she brought 3 plates even though i asked for only a couple, she stated that being a woman she was capable of thinking ahead.. to which I replied that if she was thinking ahead i wouldnt have needed to ask for plates.. we had a good laugh... this place is 'ok' there isnt anything wrong with it, however not a 4.7 star by any stretch, a more honest score would be a 3.7.

The response from the 'owner' is silly. I think the 'owner' should read the comments and understand what is being said before lashing out to genuine reviews. I did not say it was comical, i said it was unusual however I thought there would be a purpose... 'owners' should learn to listen to criticism and act to improve customer experiences rather than try and justify the poor customer experience. These reviews are an honest way to provide feedback, if you dont appreciate feedback and only want to hear good news, then remove yourself from the rating service.

Again, not a bad place to go, nothing wrong with your venue, its just not worth the apparent high score reviews, but this is just my opinion based on my experience, the rest can judge for themselves. Grazie Mille 'Owner' have a...
