Our food experience in Rome was quite a ride.
So many overrated disappointing restaurants but also so many underrated, hidden gems.
This one is overrated. Restaurant looked good, and photos and reviews didn't anything too negative about them, until we tried ourselves.
Food was absolutely disappointing (wasn't even bothered to take pictures except for one):
Cod tartare: Horrible and disgusting. Absolutely no seasoning, no flavor and the cod tasted like wet cotton balls. Seriously.
Grilled Cod: This restaurant is known for its cod, so we gave it a go. Presentation was fine, but cod was way, way TOO salty, to the point where it was inedible. It was also totally overcooked.
Slow cooked pork: Of all of the dishes this was the "best". Nothing special but nothing worth trying either. It wasn't overcooked, which is rare to see with pork.
At this point we were just fed up with the food, so we left. Maybe you disagree with what I said but this is my opinion: as always, best way to know is to try...
Read moreAll around amazing! Atmosphere, wine, food and service. We were able to get a reservation the same day. For starters we ordered the Cacio de Pepe (chips) and for dinner we had the Rigatoni al Amatriciana, Caio de Pepe, Cod/ tomatoes & peppers and. Beef w/ salad for dessert the Tiramisu.. the pasta & sauce were perfectly cooked and flavorful! We would definitely be come back!!
Hubby’s corner: Incredible. They slapped together a “red sauce thing” for our toddler and we tried it and it was the best pasta we’ve ever had. A record broken again 10 minutes later by my order, and then again 2 minutes later by Claudia’s. Really good primitivo at a decent price. Cod thing was amazing (they do something incredible with tomatoes here that I don’t understand). Good service. Strongest possible...
Read moreA great upscale but relaxed restaurant with a small but amazing menu. The service was great. Their use of cod was something you don’t see that often in Roman restaurants and so fresh and delicious. The cod tartare was refreshing and light. The carbonara was one of the best I’ve had in Italy (I live here and eat if often). Guanciale was crispy and sauce was rich and pasta was perfectly al dente. The beef cheeks with red wine sauce were tender and rich and pure rustic comfort food. The couple next to me ordered Roman artichokes and they looked so good, but I was too full to even consider anymore food. Their extensive wine list was well priced and their house wine was on point. Ambiance was light but intimate. Highly recommend if you’re near the Vatican. A short walk from St....
