I would love to give this place a great review for their food, but I CANNOT condone their business practices. Today, September 15th at around 3:30pm, my husband and I went here for the second time since we’ve been in Rome. Our first experience here was stellar! Today’s trip was not.
We ordered our dinner and my husband went to pay with his debit card. The girl behind the counter had a bad attitude from the first item we told her, but we chalked it up to it being hot and Roma drawing 2-2 to the worst team in the league. She told him, “card no go through.” I was less than a foot away so I heard all of this. We both thought that was weird but figured it was because we are in Europe and traveling internationally. He gave her his credit card and she charged it as normal.
He checked his bank account when we got to a pub down the street with WIFI to see why the charge was blocked and saw that she charged BOTH his debit card AND credit card for around $30.
He went to speak with her about it and she told him it wasn’t her fault and she didn’t do anything. She told him to “calm down and I did nothing wrong and it isn’t my fault”
This type of behavior and business practice is UNACCEPTABLE. After speaking with the pub down the street about what happened, they informed us that when they didn’t give him the first receipt showing that the card was declined that, that action is illegal all over the EU and to inform the Police. They even offered to go speak with them because they spoke fluent Italian.
I wouldn’t expect this behavior from a restaurant that has multiple locations within Rome. But the blonde girl working on Sunday afternoon/evening at this location is not only a thief but also a liar. I would avoid these specific restaurants and go to any other pasta place that is ethical and is just as good.
In case anyone thinks we are exaggerating or not being truthful we have screen shots from the bank to prove their was fraud on their part.
My husband also admits that he was loud and obnoxious about this incident and left before he did anything that he...
Read moreThe secret of Pasta Imperiale is hidden between two small places in the heart of the eternal city: Caterina and Alberto's passion to make the lucky ones who meet them taste the taste of fresh Romagna pasta. Don't be fooled, because this is not a pasta factory like the others: At Pasta Imperiale, takeaway is ready in 5 minutes, allowing us to enjoy the beauty of Rome with every fork. If you are thinking of taking a walk in Monti or Campo de' Fiori on Sunday morning, Pasta Imperiale is definitely the place for you: a little shopping, the sun, that air of freedom you breathe during the holidays and a plate of fettuccine with ragù, definitely handmade... this is the recipe for happiness! Then there is something for every taste in the Imperiale laboratory: Seven types of pasta and four main sauces await you every day, accompanied by seasonal condiments. To tell the truth, I'm already spoiled for choice: Parma ham tortellini, Mortadella Bologna PGI and Grana Padano PDO, gnocchi or green puff tagliolini? And best of all, cream and bacon or Bolognese sauce? I really don't know... The piada with Parma ham, stracchino and arugula contributes to making my crisis worse. The only thing I am sure of is that a lunch consisting of a first course, water and dessert does not exceed 8 euros: these guys have...
Read moreFirst time Google has ever done me THIS wrong. At the time of my review, this place has 4.4 stars and over 2400 reviews. I don't know how, unless we just went on an incredibly off night. 4 of us purchased: the spinach ravioli in pomodoro sauce, the spaghetti with carbonara, 2 fettuccine with butter and cheese and the feta salad. The ravioli were not bad. A little mushy but at least had flavor and actual tomatoes and basil leaves. The fettuccine had no cheese (just butter?) and the spaghetti was under cooked (5 min more at a boil to actual al dente) and exceedingly salty. Like, beyond salty. Oddly enough the salad seemed to have good ingredients (cucumber, feta cheese, olives, etc) but the olives had no flavor. Actually none. They looked like olives. They felt like olives in my mouth. But ZERO flavor. So very strange. I cannot recommend this place and if my review keeps anyone else from making this same mistake, I will consider it a job well done. Oh, the guy behind the counter...
