WATCH OUT WITH THE BEVARAGE SCAM!!! Read carefully!!
So we have spent 7 days in Rome. And after all the pizza and pasta we wanted to try one of our favorite food.. mexican/american food. So we walk for 30 minutes to what we thought have the perfect menu. We entered and its really it nice decorated and in a small street that makes it look even better.. we order 4 main plates.. just for my wife and i. Plus 2 large drinks of pepsi ( not in the mood of wine today and with mexican foods wine just looks off).. 3 dishes were good however the one that made us feel bad.. was the wings ( the one plate we were carving) the wings it was supose to be barbecue but it didnt even have a strong or even mild barbecue flavor .. it was just like a mild buffalo souce. But deffently not barbecue.. but hey its ok every country have its own way of making food and we are not in mexico or usa expecting it to be exactly the same.
However, one thing it really made me angry was the part of the beverages. We order 2 pepsi. There was a regular size and a large size... well its all the same.. they change the glass only and just covers it will small rocks of ice. After i drink mine literally in 3 sips, my wife started drinking hers and she inmidiatly notice something i didn't. There was 80%ice 20% pepsi.. we told the man attending us that if we can have one with less ice.. and he literally told us that it will be the same.. take in mind she gave her drink 95% full and when he came back he came with the glass 33% full.. you might think that well 33% of the glass of pepsi is not that bad.. but it was the 33% of the glass with pepsi and ice. And he was laughing all the way thru the process talking in italian and i could understand him because i know 4 languages and italian innsome words are similar. He came back and gave it to her. Its the kind of situation that you think well we are being scammed here.. even thought we are the one eating the most in the entire restaurant at the moment.. so food was ok.. not authentic and not the best. So at least take care of your customers.. and if you get caught scaming the clients on the bevarage behave and give them what they are paying for.. and defently dont make a joke about the situation when the clients can hear it.
As we were leaving a group of 5 men entered and order drinks.. well the same happened to one of them... and since our table was right next to the bar.. i could hear him say to the other one.. another person complaining of the ice.. but take in mind that pespi glass are not the same as alcahol cup or glass. So the waitress didnt know in which cup or glass to serve him.. because other wise they would have to use a shot glass to make it look good. Imagine buying an alcohol drink and they bring you shot!!! But you pay full as a drink.
Its a place with so much potential but they do scamm people with the drinks.. its better to put a higher price on the drink and serve well .. rather than just...
Read moreMy recent visit to Picos was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I walked in, the warm, vibrant atmosphere transported me straight to the heart of Mexico. The colorful decor, lively music, and inviting aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine set the perfect tone for an unforgettable dining experience. But what truly elevated the evening was the exceptional service provided by our server, Layanne.
The restaurant has perfectly captured the essence of Mexico with its rustic wooden furniture, intricate tile patterns, and soft, warm lighting. The walls were adorned with beautiful artwork depicting Mexican culture and history, creating a cozy yet festive environment. It was clear that great thought had been put into every detail to make guests feel welcomed and immersed in the experience.
Let me just say—this restaurant delivers on its promise of authentic Mexican flavors! From the fresh guacamole prepared tableside to the sizzling fajitas that arrived at our table with an enticing sizzle, every dish was a masterpiece. My dining companion ordered the cochinta pibil tacos, and the look of pure joy on their face said it all.
The margaritas were also worth mentioning. I had the house special—a strawberry margarita—which was a refreshingly sweet and perfectly complemented the meal.
The Star of the Night: Layanne
While the food and ambiance were impeccable, Layanne, our server, was the true highlight of the evening. From the moment she introduced herself, her warm smile and genuine enthusiasm for her work were evident. She greeted us with such warmth and professionalism, making us feel like we were the only table that mattered.
Layanne’s knowledge of the menu was impressive—she answered every question we had about the dishes and even recommended a few that turned out to be absolute winners. Her attention to detail was unparalleled. When I mentioned that I love spicy food, she made sure the salsa selection included the spiciest options available, but also brought a milder one for my friend.
Throughout the meal, Layanne struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space to enjoy our evening. She was always there at the right moment, refilling drinks and checking in without ever being intrusive. Her friendly demeanor and positive energy truly made the experience special.
Why I’ll Be Back
By the end of the meal, I was already planning my next visit. The combination of exquisite food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service made this one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Layanne deserves special recognition for her exceptional service—she went above and beyond to ensure our evening was flawless.
If you’re looking for a place that serves incredible Mexican food with a side of world-class hospitality, Picos is it. And if you’re lucky enough to have Layanne as your server, you’re in for an unforgettable treat.
Five stars aren’t enough to do this place justice—I’ll definitely be...
Read moreThey nailed it with the nachos, then sunk it with the meatless burritos. Mine was supposed to be "al pastor", the other half's was supposed to be Black beans and BBQ'd pork *Texas BBQ style") Jalapeños, why yes please. First, he brought out 2 burritos, telling me "here's your Pollo", I said "Que" and he said "Chicken", I said I ordered Al Pastor, not pollo. So he takes it back, and comes back with a different burrito saying "this is the other oen so it must be yours". Um... well, it wasn't, either. My other half's said "black beans" - well, there wasn''t a black bean anywhere. (Seriously, you can see them). No meat. Strange sweet taste. And yep, no Jalepeños. What we got was rice, and beans, and bland. Maybe 5-10 grams of minced meat, NO peppers, and a strange aftertaste. I have friends back in the states (California, Arizona, and Texas) who are in the Mexican Restaurant game. I KNOW mexican food. I know the dif between Pastor and Carnitas and Res and Pollo and lengua and sosas and birria. And pinto beans and rice. The waitress claimed they "tore our burritos and found plenty of meat", but I'd ALEREADY DONE THAT and there was maybe a single dinner spoonful. NO peppers. Rice, and beans. OK, I get it, play up to the tourists, and you'll never see them again, meanwhile we got your €65. Except - we come to Roma once a month for a few days. I'm ALWAYS good for good food. I'll spread the good word far and wide (and have). I won't say avoid the place - after all, the beer WAS cold, and the Nachos kick butt. We should have double ordered the nachos and been happy. The bleah burritos - killed it...
