I recently had the pleasure of dining at Proloco in Trastevere, and it was an extraordinary culinary experience. This charming gem offers local Italian cuisine with a unique twist – a collaboration with local artisans who provide fresh, quality ingredients, resulting in a truly exceptional dining adventure.
First of all, the decor and atmosphere felt incredibly homey, creating a cozy setting for a memorable meal. The exceptional service only enhanced the experience. The staff was not only friendly and polite but also wore smiles that made the evening even more enjoyable. What truly set Proloco apart was the owner's personal touch, as she went around the tables to ensure everyone had everything they needed. It was a level of care and attention that made us feel truly valued.
Now, let's talk about the food. The dishes at Proloco were nothing short of a masterpiece. The flavor combinations were masterful and truly unique. I had the pleasure of encountering combinations that are rarely found together, everything blended seamlessly, creating a symphony of tastes that delighted the palate.
The presentation of the dishes was a work of art. Modern, vibrant, and filled with colors and textures, the attention to detail was evident in every element of the plating. Each plate was a visual delight that only heightened the anticipation of tasting what was before us.
And let's not forget the drink selection. Proloco offers a fantastic assortment of local wines, and I had the opportunity to try a vermouth that was simply to die for. It was the ideal finishing touch to an already perfect meal.
In summary, Proloco is a dining experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a truly unique culinary journey. The combination of exquisite flavors, warm ambiance, and attentive service creates a remarkable dining adventure. If you find yourself in Trastevere, make sure to visit Proloco – it's an experience you won't...
Read moreAs a tourist from Romania visiting Rome for the first time, I was really looking forward to try the authentic pasta dishes. Unfortunately, this restaurant was a huge letdown.
I ordered the carbonara, expecting something classic and flavorful. What I got instead was a disaster: the pasta was undercooked to the point of being almost crunchy, the sauce had a bitter taste that made it hard to enjoy, and the guanciale—usually the star of the dish—was deep-fried and completely overcooked. It was like eating bacon-flavored rocks.
My friend ordered the gricia pasta and asked the waiter what it included. He confidently told her it had sour cream, parmesan, and guanciale. When the plate arrived, it was just another disappointment: undercooked pasta again, and a “sauce” that was basically just grated parmesan mixed with some pasta water. No richness, no balance, just laziness.
The service made things even worse. The waiters were completely indifferent—at one point we tried to call one over and he looked at us, then just walked away. We waited and waited until someone finally decided to come over.
To top it all off, the prices were outrageous for what we received. For a group of 7 people, we were charged an extra 21 euros just for “servizio de pane,” which added insult to injury.
This was honestly one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I’ve had while traveling. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a real...
Read moreTERRIBLE place, really not recommended. Went there with six other friends and were treated as tourists, just because we weren't local. We ordered the brunch menu (beware if you don't want brunch menu because options are really scarse), and after the apetizers (which were okeish) we ordered Genovese pesto pasta, and were really surprised when they brough us another basta with meat broth. After telling the fisrt waiter that wasn't what we oredered, he told us that what they had prepared was a white pesto. Another waiter came, we told her what was going on and after admiting that wasn't pesto, she went to check and came back saying that it was white pesto. A third waiter came with the 2 pesto plates that were missing, and as soon as she arrived she asked who had ordered pasta with meat broth. It was a JOKE. We complained to the person in charge and told them we wanted to leave. They wanted to charge us the full bill and after complaining even further, we ended up paying 100€ for just some apetizers. The other pasta we ordered (2 of us got Carbonara) was over-cooked and probably re-heated as it was really dry.
All in all, a place I wouldn't go to, and a place I wouldn't recommend my friends to go to. I don't care if they no longer had Pesto, but it would have been fair to be told the truth instead of...
