Rich in sophistication, with the knowledge of family tradition, Corsetti 1921 is a staple in the Trastevere district. Formerly the Corsetti Il Galeone, the restaurant’s newest generation of the Corsetti family have renewed the space, updating the furnishing and design, without sacrificing the recipes and quality associated with the family name. The new moniker is an ode to the year the business was established, and it has remained in the family ever since.
I enjoyed a quiet dinner alone at Corsetti 1921, and was incredibly pleased with the entire experience. Sitting in the restaurant, I felt immersed in authentic Italian lifestyle, from the décor to the smell of every neighboring tables’ meals, ripe with freshness and seasoning. The stone archways provide a rustic feel, mimicked in the design of the curved-back chairs. White linens and bench seating add a contemporary touch, while the warm wood floors and soft up-lighting add an inviting ambience.
My server was wonderful, making recommendations and engaging in pleasantries to ensure I felt right at home. I never went without, and the food was hot and fresh when delivered to my table.
I started with an assortment of seafood, which featured mussels, fried baby octopus, and seared tuna. This antipasto di mare was the perfect way to begin my dinner, as the seafood was fresh and light, and definitely whet my appetite for my next course of lobster noodles. The pasta was delicate, but held sauce well, while the lobster had that melt-in-your-mouth texture, smooth as butter.
For my main, I delighted in a fillet of sea bass with baked sliced potatoes, the latter perfectly cooked and creamy, while the fillet was meaty and flaky. Delicious.
I ended my dinner with a succulent panna cotta with caramel, perfectly sweet and a hint of nuttiness in the dark caramel. Overall, the entire experience at Corsetti 1921 is one I’d...

Read moreExceptionally bad service for exceptionally overpriced, yet mediocre food. Waiting times are ridiculous - despite half of the tables in the restaurant being empty.
A “service” fee for 7,50€ pp is automatically added to the bill - Tourists = cash cows.
Edit: What 'service' did we get? No limoncello :)) Fatty stains on the water glasses, which a waiter thankfully replaced when we asked. After our appetiser, we waited over 30 minutes for our primo piatto, while the two tables of three and two around us, who either arrived at the same time or later, had their orders served in a reasonable time. When I pointed out the rather long waiting time, the staff lectured me that this was perfectly normal as the restaurant was 'full' and each dish was prepared fresh. The first fact was apparently not the case. I don't want to call the second fact into question, but preparing Amatriciana isn't exactly a laborious undertaking. Even before our primo piatto was served, the table of three had finished their meal and paid the bill. The Amatriciana stood out in comparison to the rather uninspiringly prepared beef fillets. In terms of quantity and quality both didn‘t justify the price tag.
Conclusion: As the respondent to my initial review recommended, an Italian fast food restaurant would indeed have offered better value for money - with service-minded staff included at...
