I just hope folks out there be aware that coperto charge is ILLEGAL in city of Rome. This restaurant does charge €3 per person for bread, so we declined the bread at the beginning. Plus, we were the only customers in the place, so we just want to finish our lunch asap. I’ll skip the part that they gave us the wrong dish without apologizing. Fast forward to the bill, and sure there is, the €6 pane (bread) fee. The owner’s daughter started explaining that in Italy the pane charge actually means coperto, which pays for the silverware, napkins, etc. I immediately told her that coperto is illegal in Rome. She started to say that maybe we have never been to a real Italian restaurant because only real Italian restaurant has this type of culture, and it is for their legacy. Unless her legacy is fooling people, otherwise I think she used the wrong word. Most people don’t like to push back few euros during vacation. But we have seen this trick so many times in Rome and just so sick of it at this point. No one should put up with this type of behavior. Not only it’s illegal, it’s also not fair to those people who operate their business with honesty. Read moreA super authentic, local Italian restaurant. Great quality local Italian food for super fair prices.
My wife and I didn’t have much expectations when we went out for dinner. When we went in to ask for a table for two, we’ve been greeted with so much joy from Simona, the owner’s daughter. That joy dragged through the whole night and made that dinner a great experience.
The food topped it even more. We had food which I have never seen before in an Italian restaurant and I mean that in a positive way. They bring in all their supplies from Abruzzo, the hometown of Eduardo, the restaurant’s owner, who opened the restaurant more than 40 years ago.
All in all, great food for great value and absolutely acceptable prices for the amount and...
