Serre Barberini — Restaurant in Rome

We went to this restaurant for afternoon tea on June 11, 2025 recommended by the front desk manager at our hotel.

The server who took us to our table couldn't speak English but informed us that they would be closing in 13 minutes. He struggled to get our order and we were assisted by another customer. When we checked online we noticed that closing time was 8pm. We had gotten there at 6:30pm. That was our first issue.

Secondly, he brought two huge pots of black tea with a little jug of milk. When my sister asked for more milk, he raised his voice at her while waving his finger at her and told her he wasn't bringing more milk.

Our friend wanted another drink, so she hailed him and he completly ignored her and went inside the restaurant. We were seated outside.

Eventually , our friend went inside spoke to the manager and ordered her drink and requested for another jug of milk.

Before we left, we went in and complained about the service we had received. The manager apologized but I don't believe he took us seriously.

I would not recommend going to that restaurant, they lied about the closing time and the service was horrible. I have given a rating of 1 because zero isn't available.

Every customer deserves to be treated fairly, the food isn't free and we deserve value for our money.

I arrived at 6:20 PM, knowing the café closed at 7 PM but just wanting to have a drink in the beautiful garden. I didn’t immediately know what I wanted since there was no paper menu, just digital, and told the waiter I needed a couple of minutes. When he came back, he told me he had to clean up and could no longer serve outside, but that I should order at the bar. I walked inside to ask at the bar and they told me to go sit outside and the waiter would serve me. Very poor quality of food and even poorer service quality. The reviews here are totally correct pegged so low, and I still sadly went as the venue was selected by friends for a gathering. The tofu is a disaster - not “scrambled”, but just a slab of tofu cut out of the packet with water dripping off the plate (having not been dried properly) and dusted with a smattering of turmeric - let’s be real y’all, I can cook this at home too at a fraction of the price.
