My visit was there last year, and I finally found the business card the owner gave me because I promised him that I would write a review. We took a guided tour at the Vatican, and asked the tour guide for a nice bistro. She recommended this place on Borgo Pio Street. Everything was amazing, we had the cheese platter with cold cut meats, very fine wine that was reasonable in price. My wife and I shared the entres so we can taste more of the menu, the lasagna melts in your mouth as you eat it. We had many dishes, including the lamb chops. The place is VERY CLEAN, amazingly more than what I expected. The bathroom is spotless, and the kitchen is also very clean as you walk to the restroom. it seems to be family owned and family run with a lot of passion for their food and services. Here is a tip, do not go into eateries that have guys handing out paper flyers with promotions, these places are usually NOT GOOD! just my experience. I apologize to the owner that it was a year ago that I visited this place, however I can still picture the place in my mind, and the food we had. I hope this post helps someone like myself, that enjoys a good meal, fine wines at reasonable prices in the Rome Vatican area. Time is too precious to waste at an eatery that doesnt...
Read moreI was amazed and very pleased by the experience from even before arriving to the restaurant! I made a reservation for Christmas Eve dinner a few months ago and due to the hour differing during the Holidays, the restaurant kindly contacted me to reschedule the hour so we could turn it into a Christmas Eve lunch! Even BEFORE arriving to the restaurant I received a confirmation email that everything was great and my party and I were expected at our reserved time without a problem, which I found very reassuring (first time visiting Italy in general). The restaurant is located in a nice streer, near St Peter Plaza, and the interior was cozy and very nice. The service was great! Our waiter, Alex knew Spanish so there wasn’t any issue communicating between Spanish and Italian, and made ordering quick and efficient. The food portions are great, they are filling and if you do have enough space you can order different options; we ordered the octopus as appetizer and two main pasta dishes which were flavors that we cannot try back home. Overall, for a family lunch (especially if you’re a tourist) it is a good option, the staff and service show professionalism and a nice attitude, and if you visit during the Holiday season the atmosphere is even much more...
Read moreIn September 2020 we went to Rome to celebrate both, my mother's birthday as well as mine. We deliberately chose the Ristorante Arlù for the first birthday dinner - and then returned a few days later because we liked it so much!! First, we were attracted to the tasteful and elegant furniture (quite right for our kind of event: completed by beautiful table-cloth, cute flowers and romantic candles). The location near the end of one of the Vaticano's main streets turned out to be perfect for us: It was just the right amount of lively, but not too busy. Then we fell in love with the home-made Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe - a simple and most delicious dish you should absolutely try yourself!! We learned from the cook's sister that the Ristorante has been family-run for about sixty years now. Last but not least the waiters were very friendly, welcoming and generous (thanx to Christian and a "ragazza" whose name, unfortunately, I do not remember). My recommendation: You should absolutely go there yourself and treat yourself with Italian food at its best (I myself prefer home-made pasta over everything else...) - inevitably followed by a Tiramisù "fatto in...
