Trattoria Gallo Brillo — Restaurant in Rome

It was great. I went there based on the review and because it was across the road from our accomodation. I was surprised about the bad reviews as well. Here are a few I would like to challenge. First, this place exists, the name is on the window, it might be confusing for some as the "vino e cucina(wine and cuisine)" sign is more prominent.second, the tiramisu was amazing, third, this is a tratorria, not fine dining, so expect simple homemade food with a casual and friendly atmosphere, they do serve Roman dish and might not be to everyone's taste. The wine was good, especially at that price(don't expect grand cru obviously), DO try one of their many infused homemade grappa, that will help you digest the meal, Roman cuisine is quite heavy. I would suggest to get familiar with the local custom and Roman cuisine as to enjoy it best or decide to stay away from it. When in Rome..... Excellent experience eating here today. The food was oh so good, beyond expectations. I went in with my American ideas of what I wanted from Italian food and was humbled by an authentic experience and fantastic flavor. Very affordable prices, especially compared to a lot of other restaurants in the area near the Vatican. They place their menu and daily specials on a chalk board outside- a good sign, so I’m told. An average budget restaurant, nothing special. Prices are reasonable and the food it not bad. The menu is a large board that they keep moving from table to table, so you can’t have a good read at it, without being pressured by the waitress, who waits there till you are done, so that she can take it away to the next table. Very annoying, I don’t like to be pressured when ordering food.
