Went here yesterday with my girlfriend. We ordered gnocchi and ravioli. For some reason the waitress who took our order seemed a little irritated from the get go. We we're assuming it was because of the little language barrier that we had. The staff didn't speak good english but we managed to get the order in. When the food came the waiter hardly even spoke to us when we tried to thank her etc. Also she almost knocked down my drink because I think she was trying to be quick serving us the food. She didn't react to this in any way which was just weird. The ravioli my girlfriend had was ok but the gnocchi with gorgonzola was a nightmare. It felt like someone accidentally poured a whole pack of salt on the plate and the whole thing was swimming in sauce. Usually I'm not picky with food but I literally had to fight to get the whole thing down my throat because I was starving. The same behavior continued when I paid the check. The waitress just gave me the silent treatment god knows why and nobody replied anything even tho we tried to thank the staff when we we're leaving. I highly recommend to choose another...
Read moreThe worst “pizza” I’ve ever had. In fact it was not a pizza, but a piadina sold as a pizza.
I entered here because I was tired and hungry and even though I noticed some red flags I thought a pizza is always good, even if it’s not the best, but what I never expected was to be served a piadina!
My girlfriend ordered pasta alla gricia but the pasta was well overcooked and the sauce was a mess.
I don’t recommend anyone to visit this place, even after eating the fake pizza I was going to pay and say nothing since I ate anyway but at that point they tried to make me pay for the seating when I only entered the restaurant because outside was clearly written “Menu for 10,99€”. Knowing this was an illegal practice I stood my ground and didn’t have to pay it but for the poor tourist visiting Rome this is a pure scam.
Just a message to the owner: it is illegal to say the menu is for 10,99€ and at the same time adding a fee for the seating if it’s not specified outisde or clearly specified anywhere...
Read moreDates of Visit: Dec 24, 2021 (1 visit). Overall, fantastic pasta! But the pizza is relatively average, (and nowhere near as good & flavorful as the pizza down the street on the next block, which I've reviewed). Hence, FIVE STARS for PASTA, but only 3 stars for Pizza = 4 stars. The pasta is not the best you'll find in Rome, for the price, but it isn't anything to turn away from. If I were given a choice of any pasta dish from any restaurant near the Trevi Fountain, Pizza Navona, or the Spanish Steps versus the pasta from Vacanza Cucina, I would NOT HESITATE to come to Vacanza Cucina. This isn't a tourist trap. it's a really good place for pasta for the money. It's clear that the pasta dishes are freshly made/cooked - the pasta itself and the sauces were full of flavor and depth. La Carbonara Hence, it is some of the best pasta we've had in Rome. (A beef steak was also ordered, but I don't have really great comments about it. We're biased since nothing compares to a good thick juicy...
