After 8 days in Italy as British tourists, this is the first time I felt we received very different service to the locals. We were initially seated quickly but after ten minutes had to go and ask for menus. We ordered pizzas which came quickly but were mediocre at best. After finishing our pizzas we had planned to get coffees but after around 25 minutes of being ignored we went up and asked for the bill (this was all the more frustrating as the waiting staff seemed to be spending a lot of time chatting at the tables with other customers and checking they were okay). We finally got our bill which was the wrong one entirely and my partner went inside to contest it. He came out having paid the correct bill but which now had a ‘coperto’ service charge added on. This is infuriating as A) looking around it seemed that we were the only table not to get a ‘coperto’ bread basket and B) the first receipt we had been given, clearly belonging to a table of locals, did not have a service charged added on. This is the first time after a week in Italy I did not want to pay a tip because the service had been so poor. It seems that as tourists we are expected to endure poor service and pay for the...

Pros: The view is great and the staff is alright
Con: The food is simply horrible in every way, let me explain: The pizza includes options such as “Bolognese Pizza” and “Hot Dogs on Pizza” The pizza is bad, even for non-italian standard The vegetables are so over salted they can’t be eaten The menu itself already indicated bad cuisine: Pizza and Poke-balls… what a classy combination
It is such a shame as the location is great. Here some suggestions for the restaurant: You are in Italy, you have access to some of the freshest and greatest ingredients - USE THEM. Instead, you use smelly and unpleasant meats, questionable vegetables and barely any seasoning (except of course too much salt)… Hope others make a...
Read moreThe view over the hills is marvelous. Too bad it doesn't translate to the food or the service. The young 20-something staff tries hard but it just doesn't work.
The restaurant apparently does not save in only staff expenses, they save also in ingredients. I have never (even in Finland) eaten a pizza which is so devoid of taste. My partner got a gorgonzola and salami pizza and even that was tasteless. How is that even possible? We got a sandwich in Volterra the day before that was twice as tasty and half the price.
The wine was ok.
If you go here for a bottle of wine to watch the sun set, fine. Just don't order any food unless you're starving. (We were but still feel a bit cheated by a 13 e canned tuna pizza...
