We stopped at this restaurant as it had good reviews. This was not our experience. We had booked online a table for 2.30pm and turned up at 2.15pm and were accommodated straight away but with the waiter checking his watch and tell us served finished at 2.30pm. I ordered a salad because I thought I was going to burst into flames I was so hot. The salad came no dressing, no lemon seasoning just dry shredded chicken sprinkled sparingly over some dry leaves with croutons so hard that when I tried to spear one with my fork I lost half the leaves on my plate. My husband who ordered pica a specialty pasta received the smallest portion of pasta I have ever seen and much smaller than the portion of childrens pasta that an Italian family were eating at a nearby table, let alone the adult portion which looked comical in comparison. Nay sayers would say its because we came before end of service but the local families were served food after us. There was another couple of tourists next to us and the gentleman was also looking for the rest of his gnocchi. We left feeling like we had fallen into a tourist trap after initially feeling excited as it had lots of Italians inside usually a good sign if the locals eat there. Bill was not insubstantial £70 (for a dry salad, a measly portion of pasta, two sparkling water and a cola) and we left hungry. Would not recommend unless you...
Read moreSiena, one of Europe’s oldest cities, is rich in culture, filled with beautiful historical sites, and home to what is easily the best gem I’ve discovered this year: Osteria del Gusto. This restaurant offers the true and authentic flavors of Italy, with a remarkable quality of ingredients.
If you come to Siena, you must try their pasta! For my starter, I ordered the gnocchi, and it was simply outstanding. Just thinking about it, I can still taste the delicious flavors of the bacon, fresh pasta, and rich sauce that made this dish incredible.
For my main course, I had a chicken escalope. It was good, but I quickly realized my mistake—I should have ordered more pasta! I also had the chance to taste a friend’s carbonara, and that sealed it for me. This place serves the best pasta I’ve had in my life.
I finished with a classic Italian dessert, tiramisu, which was well-made and satisfying.
The staff was extremely friendly, and one of the managers frequently checked in to make sure everything was going well and kept the dining room organized and spotless. Very professional!
This was truly a highlight of my trip, and I highly...
Read moreDisappointing. Got a recommendation from a local but our stay was all in all not worth the more than 70 bugs. Bread was too dry and unsalted, water wasn’t cold, Very Small portions for Appetizer and pasta and very probably the Panna Cotta desert or the other desert was bad (the two of us had stomach issues afterwards). I would have said that the service was good but undermanned and therefore very slow but as the reaction to my panna Cotta feedback was only „thanks, I’ll try it“ I rate it as bad, too. Good dishes were the pasta with chicken and lime and the eggplant Appetizer cake. The Panna Cotta was way to hard and only the pistachio Creme was good about it (but I can by that one just in a store..). All in all somehow a touristic...
