Bad quality food really overpriced for the less than mediocre quality you get. Steak ordered was basicalky not seasoned at all therefore not getting what you order: some toscana beef... Gnochi con patate that for sure have not seen the potatoes; a very simple tasty dish overpriced at this place and very likely replaced by some really cheap fake... Pasta al ragu... italian specialty again missed big time. No taste for pasta and no taste for the sauce... really you missed it big time... Small point... it seems that this apparently poshy place family run, makes everything possible to increase profits... normally this is why you are in business, ok, fine, but don't reuse even the bitten pieces of bread. First was shown to son of the owner apparently, that excused, but then they changed for really silly explanations all of this. Service wise, okaysh, with a rather aggressive sale attitude of the owner son... not choosing the right words and judging whether your order is fine... While paying they tried to payback with some extra like coffee or biscuits... bad for Italy, bad for Toscana... for them, possible reasons to reflect upon their service and their chef... who seem again to be from the family... although all this should be a plus, in this place was exactly the opposite... Attitude was polite, but insufficient to compensate the food quality which as well reflects their inner way of doing this business... Try at your...
Read moreA great place to eat in Siena. Food is very good and the staff is really nice. Bonus, the restaurant is nicely located between the Duomo and the Il Campo and the atmosphere of the little street is good.
Food: We took 4 starters to share, the burrata with the truffle was really good. As it was a temporary dish, maybe you will not have it but if it's on the menu and you like burrata and truffle, by all means, take it. The selection of cheese is also great with varying level of strength. Last but not least, the tartare is fresh and nicely cut. The carmelized onions go very well with the meat. Speaking of meat, we shared one Fiorentina Steak (~60€/kg) of 1.4kg. The meat is very high quality and nicely seasoned. For 4 it was good but if you eat a lot, maybe only for 2 or 3. Their tiramisu is really nice. If you want something different, try the Vin Santo and the Contucci. It is a dessert wine and some almond biscuits. Beware ! The biscuits are hard (that's how they traditionally are).
Staff: We were in a tight schedule of 45min. After informing the staff they did everything they could for us to be on time. 42min total (without the desserts, I mixed two comings into one for this review). They are very friendly and like to give advice and recommendations.
A great experience that we will gladly have again if we go...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough to warrant one.
From start to finish, the food was incredibly bland. We ordered a cured meat & beef tartare as appetizers, a pasta dish, and a fish plate — and unfortunately, none of them had any flavor. Everything tasted like it was missing seasoning, care, and inspiration. We actually tried to cancel the pasta and fish after realizing how underwhelming the appetizer was, but were told they had “already started cooking.” Fair enough — but what really stood out was that the waiter didn’t ask why we wanted to cancel or show any curiosity or concern. It felt like they were just going through the motions.
The service itself was mediocre. No follow-up, no warmth, no effort to check in after we left most of our dishes untouched. That alone should’ve prompted at least a question from the staff — but no one seemed to notice or care.
Unfortunately, we left hungry and frustrated. There are too many great restaurants out there to waste time and money on a place that doesn’t prioritize flavor or hospitality. Would...
