One of the prettiest Doms in Italy ~ the Siena Duomo. Here are a few things to know before you go -
Tickets are available to tour the inside of the church ACROSS the street. DO NOT WAIT in que/line only to be re-routed to get your tickets inside. They may be purchased on-line, that is always a faster line. TOURS of the church are given daily and more information about English Tours are available on their website or at the ticket office.
This square is super busy, be careful of your belongings and pick-pockets
Wear appropriate clothing - in Italy and most churches in Europe, your shoulders and knees must be covered for respect.
Don't talk when you are touring the inside of a church - save it til you get outside - You will be shushed. Respect others while they are praying and try not snapping too many pictures around them
NO FLASH - almost every church in Europe will let you take pictures BUT no flash is allowed.
Gift shop - stop by the gift shop at the Duomo they have interesting things and the funding goes back into the care and upkeep...

We went inside to pay, it did not cross out mind that we don’t pay - but one of the chef came out and shouted us that “you have to pay, you have to pay”. We asked him to chill down, it’s our worst experience in Italy but we pay and we did of course. Listen, people come to eat to Italy, this was absolutely embarrassing! I was not supposed to give one star, but I have to, to be able to ask you to change! The waitress was very sweet, but...

The waitress rushed towards us: ‘did you ask?’ Well no, so we didn’t know that we had to ask if we could eat something. Anyway, we could sit down. The menus were thrown on the table without saying anything. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. Actually, you would rather leave then. Some employees see it as a reason to be really rude. We left and ate somewhere else in the city where we could count on typical Italian...
