We went here on Friday on the recommendation of our hotel, when we arrived we were sceptical as there was v little atmosphere and the staff were not friendly or engaged, but we persevered as my parents were tired from travel. We shouldn’t have….we should have trusted our gut and left. We ordered: Asparagus and leek flan - was warm on the outside and cold inside Seabass with zucchini- slimey and under seasoned Zucchini and shrimp risotto- inedible, my mum didn’t eat it Ham and cheese - was fine

The staff did not ask us if we were happy with the food. Even when they cleared and we hadn’t eaten it. When I paid the bill, again nothing. I would not recommend this restaurant as there are so many wonderful, fresh and vibrant places in Siena but this is...

This restaurant is the most overrated dining experience of our Italy trip (Been there many times). Traveling from Venice to Siena (through Bolognia, Florence and Tuscan villages), we've enjoyed both family-run local eateries, to Michelin-starred restaurants, but this place is an absolute joke and tourist trap!

Service was non-existent, incompetent, with staff displaying a disdainful attitude that made us feel unwelcome. Despite the upper mid to high prices for what they offfer, the food was bland and uninspired, far from the "gourmet" experience they pretend to have…

For those who appreciate and are willing to pay for quality food, especially in Italy, Ristorante San Desiderio is a huge disappointment. Save your time and money; this place is...

. Was recommended this restaurant by our landlady. Was such a tourist trap and a let down . Starting with the ugly dark room decorated with huge Ikea - like posters of horses ( I mean we had just been to the Duomo with all that glorious art and then walk into this ). They say you can't judge a book by its cover but this was not the case here . The food was so bad and so not refined . - for God's they served potato crisps as a side instead of potato chips! The salad was dry and not fresh . The rest of the food tasted just so cheap and so not the italian food I m used to. This was certainly the worst meal in SIena and so sad to have ended our...

No recommendation. Sadly. Kitchen: although ordered medium, the Tagliata di Manzo was way overcooked and dry. (See pictures.) Vongole were empty shells and pasta was average. Chicken was oily. Service: Friendly at first, but saying "this is what we consider medium" when it's an obvious mistake and basically blaming your customers, is bad service. Paying: Being offered a discount when paying cash rings a few bells (taxes and stuff...) Location: Well located, close to the main square. Nice inside room, nice outside too (+1*) Wine: The house wine was actually nice (+1*)

Great place. We shared the antipasto platter which was plenty for two. I followed with eggy homemade spaghetti with bottarga, clams, and salicornia. My companion had braised beef cheek served with pumpkin cream and dusted with cacao. I would recommend any of these. The only dish I wouldn't order again was the contorno of oven roasted vegetables which was a bit bland. The house red was excellent value at EUR 14 per bottle and actually a very nice Chianti. We paid in cash and were offered complimentary limoncellos as a result.
