Our short trip to Sirmione found us checking into the Hotel Pace Ristorante for a spot of lunch. We stumbled across this restaurant whilst exploring the Town and as it’s tucked away down a quiet street that ends at the edge of Lake Garda, it is actually easy to miss unless you intentionally go down to the end of the road. This restaurant is set in some very nice grounds and surroundings and many of the tables are set immediately on the side of the lake. Lunch starts at 12 noon and it rapidly starts to fill up. There are lots of tables so despite its popularity, I don’t think there is any need to book ahead. All in all, we had a good experience here and as a result, I’d feel happy to recommend.

We had beef tartar as a primo and macaroni bolognese... Beef tartar was just fresh minced meat with no added ingredients.. Some dots of mustard like sauce on the side.. Very poor way of cooking level. Every pub can do it better. Bolognese.. There was almost no meat.. And taste was like.. When I was eight I was having the same success with taste.. Definitely not something I will remember.. Restaurants unfortunately will have always guests because of its locations.. But that is not an excuse for poor cooking.. 2 stars only because food was not made of rotten ingredients. Ingredients were good or missing.. Chef was on holiday.. Or is not employed.

Location is the star of the show for this restaurant as the food wasn’t great. They charged €2.50 per person for one very small yet stale basket of bread, the pizzas were average and the pasta was a disappointment, the clam pasta once again tiny clams and missing flavour, the ragu was probably the one we enjoyed the most. The mussels, whilst plenty they were tiny and the majority had only partially opened. For great views over sunset worth a shot but don’t expect the food to wow you in any way. Service was ok, more friendly than most but the majority were not local Italians so may explain why.

1 star is to much to give this place, but less is not possible. The service is below any expectations, first the waiter was not friendly. After hearing our order, only primi piatti, because it can be huge portions in Italie, he got angry that we did not order a main course. We waited 45 min for our pastas, as all the tables around us, we all came after us, got served their food 10 min after ordering. When the food finally came (45min), and I asked for some Parmesan cheese, it took another 15 min and 4 waiters later to get some cheese. By that time my Penne Bolognaise was cold of course, I ate it anyway, because I was so hungry. Lets not speak about the poor quality since tastes can be different for all. Since it was only a very small portion, I decided to still order another main course in the form of a black angus burger. Here I will say something about taste, as the meat was dry and grainy, and the bun tasted like cheap plastic buns you buy in cheap supermarket. (dry and moldy taste) The bread basket for the table was a total disaster, clearly it was not fresh, the bread sticks where from a big bagthat again one buys at a supermarket in bulk load. The best part is that in times of Corona, the bread naskets are being reused from table to table. When we went to pay (they dont come to the table in Italy, you go to the register), we tried to report this friendly to the lady at the register. And in stead of giving a small apology and showing some understanding, this girl started blaming us. All in all, a very bad experience, actually the worst in a very long time. Looks like a restaurant still stuck in business model of the the 1980, we dont care about the guests, the stupid tourists will...

Unbelievably disgraceful food and service!..beautiful setting so if you really don't care about what you eat and how much you pay for it and how you are treated when you complain politely ..then definitely eat here! We ordered a burger because the photo outside looked amazing and a simple tomato and basil pasta. ...The burger that came was the furthest away from that tempting image that it could have been ..it was a frozen pattie with a kids melted cheese slice in a stale bun! The spaghetti had a can of chopped tomatoes poured over it ..not even a basil leaf in sight! We tasted it then rejected it ..we explained why and the waitress said 'nothing wrong with it' and walked away! We drank our wine and beer and asked for the bill just for the drinks ..the waitress asked us to go to the till..we did and the manager refused to remove the food from the bill ..saying not her problem ..we ordered it . Didn't matter that we didn't like it! We refused to pay ..gave her the cash for the drinks which she threw on the floor! ..we left what can you...

If you are under the age of 30 avoid this place at all costs. The staff will treat you differently to the older guests. Myself and my girlfriend went here for some drinks everyone else received olives and crisps with their drinks we received nothing. A female member of staff continuously hovered around our table watching us this made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. When we were leaving and went to pay the bill a rude Waiter with curly hair and glasses said “not here there” whilst keeping his back turned to us and pointed in the direction of the paying terminal behind his back. We have spent a week staying in lake guarda and this was our last “meal” before returning to the uk. The experience of this “meal” put a sour taste on our last day of holiday. We are returning with a group of workmates in June and will avoid this place like the plague. Don’t make the mistake we did and only attend this venue if you look middle aged or your treatment will be substandard compared to other...
