Appalling service, unprofessional standards and when I wanted to speak to management, they started shouting and swearing. This was done in front of the entire restaurant including children.
I urge you not to use this restaurant for food as they do not reflect the standards that most places hold at lake Garda. Put a real dampener on our evening.
Edit: After the response from the restaurant, I feel compelled to post the truth about the experience and give an honest balanced view for those who wish to read this, as I would not want people to have a similar experience.
Arrived when a storm was closing in. The restaurant did an excellent job of moving customers from outside to inside and ensuring they continued to eat safely.
We were seated inside (table for 6). We sat and waited for approximately 15 minutes. 3 other tables arrived and were seated and served before us. We then requested menus as others had been served. We understood they were busy because of the storm and appreciated that we may have been forgotten about.
We waited another 10 minutes and had no service. Again, I asked someone to come over (other tables who had arrived after us had food now). We were told to wait. Explained that others had been served and again had been forgotten about. The waitor did not apologise, but instead was very rude and told us it was our fault as we had not closed the menus to indicate we were ready. He finally took the order of both food and drink when persuaded.
Food and drink did arrive promptly. This was good. Other servers were working hard, and we acknowledged this and thanked them.
My wife had pasta (good portion and very nice). My mother had pork, also nice, but no side to the dish even though it was over 20 euro. My son's plain hamburger had no chips or sides and cost 20 euros. Both pizzas had a smokey flavour from the oven, and toppings lacked flavour. I queried mine as the menu stated pepperoni, but there wasn't any on the pizza.
After much discussion with the manager, I pointed out a translation issue on the menu as he claimed it said peppers. He offered to change the pizza and brought out a new one. Also good.
We paid the bill and was about to leave. We noticed an 18 euro service charge (12% extra), which has been added. This is normal in Italy. There was another customer at the desk who was also querying the charge and not happy. My mother also said she was not happy with experience and told them it was disgusting they had added this charge to our bill without discussion. Due to the poor service experienced, poor food and that no one had checked on us throughout the night, despite issues.
She left with 2 of my children. I stayed to speak with the manager and tried to offer some feedback on our experience to help improve it for others. This was the part that was totally unacceptable.
He was not interested. Instead, he lost his cool and became irrate. He was shouting and screaming in front of the whole restaurant. He called me a mother f**ker and was marching around with his hands in the air. I asked him to not swear in front of my children. By this point the whole restaurant had stopped and was looking at him in horror. His default was to ask me to leave. I obliged and left and said I would provide a review as his actions were grossly unjustified.
Having looked at other reviews, there are many others who have had a similar experience to us. This is sad as Sirmione is a beautiful place and we have always been looked after here when we have visited. What also disappointed me is his reply to our review. No apology, no acceptance of an issue, no offer to listen and put things right, which is all we wanted to do. To be a restaurant owner you have to accept feedback and make things better. I genuinely hope that he reads this and acknowledges any changes that...
Read moreWe went here twice during our time in Sirmione. The first time I had a pasta with clams and my boyfriend had a marinara pizza. The pizza was the authentic Naples pizza we were hoping for during our trip which made us go again. The pasta with clams was nice and I had a tiramisu which was so fresh and beautiful. The restaurant is on the lake so you have the beautiful view of the sunset whilst you are eating.
We had the same server twice and he was very friendly and was very personable to all customers in his area. All of this made us come the second night.
On the second night, I had the diavola pizza and my boyfriend had a steak. They asked him what way he wanted it which was a good sign. My pizza again was lovely. My boyfriend found the cut of meat (he ordered a fillet) wasn’t great and he didn’t enjoy his steak as it was quite fatty.
What we found about this place is that there can sometimes be difficulty in getting the waiters attention as they are constantly so busy.
Whilst the food is fine it is still touristy and although it was not the most expensive meal we had in Sirmione, it is expensive for...
