Believe the bad reviews you see. I decided to give it a shot for my Husband’s birthday dinner celebration and I wish I hadn’t. You’re really better off going to a small local restaurant, enjoying the traditional cuisine and saving your money. 2 stars for the splendid view and live piano.
We had the tasting menu for 130€ each plus a nice bottle of wine, which they have a very big and great selection of. Service was below average, the experienced team lacked enthusiasm for their work place and depending on which server served the dish maybe you would get a description of the dish, maybe not. And we felt rushed to finish after every plate.
The whole menu itself lacked balance, character and creativity. I must say, for a Relais & Chateaux restaurant I was very disappointed with the experience as a chef and big fan of the chain. The potential this restaurant has…
Our Amuse Bouche was a sad cold and tasteless meatball. The appetizer, prawns carpaccio, was garnished with sad raw carrots and tiny lettuce leaves. The carrots could’ve been pickled or something interesting to them; instead of the 3 dots of raspberry coulis I think it was, you can add a nice foam? Or at least more off. The saltiness from the carpaccio had nothing to be balanced with. In the gnocchis the mussels were over cooked and chewy, and the tuna in the risotto didn’t really go well with it:/ For the main dish, the fish was perfectly cooked, however the rest of the dish came with a bland thick tomato sauce, some sad dry potatoes that seemed the staff’s meal leftover, and olives and capers one would say come straight out of the can… The presentation for every dish left lots to talk about as well but I think you get my point. The best part for me was the traditional lemon cake my husband got for his birthday, one I would find a refiner way of making and having that in the tasting menu instead of the creme brûlée (which was kind of missing the brûlée part of it) to better represent the region. All...
Read moreHow can one describe perfection in a hotel!! This place is 5 star for many reasons! Let’s start with the ambience and Decor of the hotel! It’s beautiful and classy and you know you’re somewhere very special when you are greeted to check in without a long process or desk. The staff is well trained to treat ALL their guests as VIP guests! From the Concierges and greeters to management, they treat their guests superbly! The concierge was so helpful and informative to guide us in making our trip amazing. The restaurant and its staff are perfection with attentive service and serving absolutely delicious food!! What an exquisite dining experience overlooking the bay of Naples!! Whether inside or outside on the terrace, it’s breathtaking! The breakfast buffet was delicious with lots of choices and great service! The snack area for guests in the afternoon is a plus! A small dessert and coffee or tea made it a nice place to sit in the lounge area and read or relax. It was a bit less filled with various foods as when we visited 8 years ago when there were meats, cheeses, and breads but still very nice.
The room choice is key but all have wonderful views as you are literally on the side of a cliff looking over the sea! We personally like larger rooms and we had a fabulous one this! Be sure to choose the best room for your stay.
The location is by far the best place to stay in Sorrento!! An easy walk anywhere to shop, dine, walk around or have fun!! The sunsets from here are the best for sure.
To sum it up the Hotel Bellevue Syrene is superb in every way!! Every aspect of our stay was divine!! They provide perfection, which is...
Read moreDid not stay at the hotel, but had dinner at The Pergola Restaurant. Had very high hopes after reading reviews but was unfortunately disappointed. Despite filling out information prior to our arrival, the celebration of our engagement was never acknowledged which was quite sad for us both. The venue was stunning, especially during sunset but everything else was lackluster. Service was very slow (~20 minutes to get water on a 32° night) and we weren’t given a wine menu until after we placed our dinner order. We didn’t find the staff to be particularly warm or welcoming, rather just another table they had to seat and serve as a means to an end. After ordering a bottle, it took multiple times to get the attention of staff for refills.. it would have been easier and much more pleasant to have the bottle chilling by our table. While I realize space may be limited, it made for many uncomfortable moments wondering if we were forgotten about. The food itself, gnocchi and lamb, were just okay. Prices were reasonable but we weren’t left feeling like this was the best way to spend our limited time in Sorrento. To top it off we had many “influencers” blocking our view to take pictures which also appeared to be irritating the patrons beside us but they were allowed to do as they please for upwards of 10 minutes. While the view was stunning, I’d recommend skipping and watching the sunset elsewhere and grabbing more authentic...
