We are a senior couple staying in an apartment nearby Momo for a month and have tried all the restaurants in our neighborhood. We usually order a bottle of wine and share a piatti secondi for dinner, which has worked well for us at all the restaurants we’ve tried. Here we ordered a Falanghina white wine and the sea bass special (€25). The wine (€30) was served in an ice bucket and was delicious. We were served a lovely basket of fresh breads which we dipped into the olive oil available on the table. The fish was served with grilled lemon slices and garlic and was accompanied by 4 small slices of potato and a mixed medley of grilled vegetables (about 2 tablespoons). The delicious fish was probably 3 ounces maximum with the skin…. tiny portion. We each had about 2 tablespoons of actual fish. With a carafe of still water (€4) and coperto (€6), our bill was over €65. Plus we always leave a tip. It was quite expensive with very minimal portions compared to what we’ve experienced in the neighborhood. We were able to take our half finished bottle of wine home. They provided a cork and a bag. The wait staff was excellent! We went back to our apartment and had a big...
Read moreI have never written a review but feel inclined after having an incredibly disappointing experience at Mo Mo. I chose the restaurant for my husband an me to have our last dinner in Sorrento based on the lovely decor and great reviews. First of all they were very busy with large tour groups, we had to wait quite a while for a drink and had to ask for bread when we saw others who sat after us get served right away. When we got the bread and asked for balsamic and olive oil they pointed to the small container on the table that had packets of sugar, salt and pepper and they had their oil and vinegar in small plastic packages! The vinegar had small chunks floating in it and was very bitter. The kicker was that two young women were sitting behind us and they received bottles of vinegar and olive oil. The caprese salad was the worst we had in a week in Sorrento, the cheese was hard and not moist and the tomatoes were not ripe. I had high hopes for this restaurant but after the salad, bread and drinks we left and found another place to have the rest of our...
Read moreThe mushroom fettuccine was great and despite a small looking portion, was very filling.
The other dish was the Risotto Mó Mó, a fried risotto akin to the "cuoppo" street-food popular in the area, served alongside local seafood and burrata. In general, my understanding is that Italian cuisine keeps cheese and seafood separate, and this dish helped me understand why. Even though the burrata was subtle enough not to overpower the seafood and risotto, they felt like two separate things occurring on the same plate. Having said this, the seafood was exemplary and the fried risotto a welcome twist.
The staff were perfectly friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. I would overall recommend this place with its perfect situation...
