Ristorante La Basilica — Restaurant in Sorrento

I usually write nice reviews but I wasn't so keen on writing a fantastic review about this restaurant. The food was nice, it did actually arrive quite quick, my boyfriend liked his dinner. However, it may just be a one off and just bad timing when being served at the restaurant but me and my boyfriend was greeted by a guy called Mario, he was nice at first and allowed us to sit wherever as there was alot of empty tables. We were given the food menu and we had to wait around 15 minutes to actually be asked what we would like to order. Now I can understand if it was actually busy, but there was alot of tables empty outside (wasn't sure about the inside). We tried making eye contact with any of the waiters so they could attend to us. But the Mario guy was just standing around the corner, seemed like he really couldn't be bothered to serve us. Once he came to us, he asked what drink we'd like to order then just went on to say "just water then?" in an unfriendly tone. We would have ordered some actual drinks if someone had given us the drinks menu but when someone has a tone, it does put you off from ordering properly. In addition, we had to ask for the bill twice and nearly missed our bus back to our hotel just because noone could actually be bothered to attend to us. My recent visit to Ristorante La Basilica was nothing short of exceptional. Although we walked in around 10 pm, just as they were about to close, the staff was incredibly accommodating and welcoming. They seated us with a smile and provided us with attentive and professional service throughout our meal.

The star of the show was the grilled fish that I ordered. It was cooked to perfection, with a delicate and flavorful seasoning that I've never tasted before. It was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had in my life. The side dishes were also noteworthy, with each bite bursting with flavor and freshness.

What was truly impressive was the level of service that we received. Despite the late hour, our server was gracious and attentive, ensuring that our meal was enjoyable and relaxing. He made us feel as though we were the only customers in the restaurant, and we were never rushed or made to feel like an inconvenience.

The ambiance of Ristorante La Basilica was also lovely. The decor was elegant and tasteful, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The overall dining experience was nothing short of top-notch.

Me and my wife Lavinia absolutely love this place! We spent 6/8 dinner nights during our honeymoon at La Basilica. First, the waiters are extremely friendly and intuitive. They take time to ask questions, to reccomand, to help you enjoy your meal. Then, the chef and the team: an absolute geniuos team! We were highly impressed by their cooking, plating, dressing and speed with which they honoured us. Absolute mouthwatering dishes that never seem to stop. In general the atmosphere is really nice, distant from the busy street, although it was in the city center. We will be visiting Sorrento again for our 1 year anniversary, and we will go to La Basilica again to meet Giuseppe, Mario, Rosanna, Valleria, Mario, Giuseppe and the team who’s names we could not remember. Absolute amazing bunch of people! They deserve much credit for their professionalism, big hearts and immense hospitality.
