We stop by to eat with the beautiful sunset. We are in vacation and despite the service being very slow, we enjoyed the moment. After finishing our first bottle of wine, we decided to take another. Note: We are not drunk at all at this moment, no loud talking or anything that would imply that we are getting ahead of ourself. Just taking in the moment and the beautiful vacation. At one point I stand up and go to the bathroom, A gentleman behind me aboard me and tells me he's from the same country and we live very close (Canada, Montreal). He was overhearing our conversation and wouldn't want to interrupt. ( the table right beside us) As we finished our meal and our first bottle of wine. ( 45 minutes later still not having the 2nd bottle )I politely asked for 4 shots to enjoy with the gentleman we just met and his friend. Waiter nodded. As the night progress. Still no bottle... still no shots. A good 50 minutes has passed and I ask again. The waiter ( The Host, you could tell he was calling the shot "but not calling mine") responded very rudely that I was too drunk. Pardon me ?! We drank a bottle of wine 1h30 ago 😂. I asked if it was possible to get the shots to show a kind gesture to the other table. He might have thought it was all for us. But I made it clear that it was to share and why I was ordering. He wasn't having it. I have been very polite. We ordered food ( good. Michelin star worthy. Nope ) We had a good bill. Were being polite. I still don't get it. This was straight disrespectful in so many ways. He told me they didn't have the alcohol I aksed.. which i replied: you could have told me ?! Are we in a Michelin star restaurant ? He turn over and asked the other waiter if I was doing anything wrong as I was so confused about the situation. The host rushed to our table and made my friend paid in a rush before I finished talking with the other waiter that looked as confused as me. We did ended up with the shot. With the alcohol we ordered. Nice to lie... we shared the shot with the other table and then left. Very pretentious, lack of class. And not worthy of anything related to...
Read moreHands down the best dining experience I’ve ever had. This was seriously the best way to end our trip to Sorrento. My wife and I came to Sorrento on our honeymoon trip. We made reservations for our last night a few months in advance. It absolutely lived up to our expectations.
We came early and enjoyed cocktails on their terrace bar. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the view even if you didn’t go to dine at the restaurant.
Initially they sat us at a table that we weren’t blown away by. I spoke up and asked if we could sit at the corner spot (in my opinion best table). The manager initially politely said it was reserved, but after I explained our special occasion, then he went back to check books. He ended up seating us at the best table. The hospitality will never be forgetting. I apologize, but I think his name was Sal? The views here were breathtaking. Views of the Gulf of Naples & Vesuvius. The pictures and videos don’t do it justice. It was even better in person!
Our server Miri or Mariana was soooo sweet and friendly. She took our pictures and complimented our outfits. She so full of joy and happy to help us with anything.
The food was incredible! Literally every dish we had seemed to be better than the last. We did a La carte, but I’ve heard the tasting menu is worth it. Even with a La carte, the chef prepared some extra small tasting dishes while our food was prepared. We specifically loved the truffle pasta and lobster gnocchi. That lobster gnocchi wanted to savor every bite!
The sommelier gave us an expert suggestion based on the dishes we ordered. We got a bottle and it was perfect. We actually finished it. It helped that the servers seemed to know exactly when to pour some more in your glass.
The entire experience was exceptional. Please go here if you want an evening to remember on your Sorrento vacation.
*it was our most expensive meal in Italy, but it is a Michelin star restaurant so it was to be expected. Worth it though....

Our dinner at Lorelei in Sorrento was, without a doubt, the best meal of our entire two-week trip through Italy. We chose the 5-course vegetarian tasting menu, and every course was a masterpiece. Everything was so refined, inventive, and full of flavor. It’s rare to find a restaurant that treats vegetarian cuisine with such creativity and respect, but Lorelei delivered something truly extraordinary.
The setting alone is worth the visit. We dined during sunset, and the panoramic views over the Bay of Naples were absolutely magical! It’s the kind of moment you try to photograph, knowing it will never quite capture how stunning it really was.
What made the evening even more special was the hospitality. We were invited to meet the executive chef and watch as he prepared an extra post dinner dessert and tea before our main dessert. We loved seeing his passion and attention to detail while he worked. While we enjoyed our tea, we were given a tour their beautiful wine cellar, which features a view of an ancient Roman aqueduct! It was an unexpected and fascinating glimpse into Sorrento’s deep history.
Everything about Lorelei feels thoughtful and elevated, yet welcoming. This is the kind of place where every detail matters, from the plating to the pacing to the warmth of the staff. If you’re looking for a truly memorable dining experience in Sorrento, especially one that embraces fine vegetarian cuisine, Lorelei...
