Beautiful view of the (active) sea port and is at the edge of town, 3min walk to Piazza Tasso (main square). Away from bustle of downtown, but on a busy road, I’m happy we were on the sea side (5th floor Prestige room). Enjoyed our morning coffee, and evening wine with an amazing view of sea and Mt Vesuvius in background. ||Grounds were beautiful. There is an elevator (lift) that takes you to the beach and their private dock/lounge area. You have to walk through a tunnel. Pool is not heated, so no one was using it. ||Cocktails on the patio overlooking the sea were amazing. American breakfast buffet with made to order egg station included. ||Room was bright and spacious. Beautiful tile floor (however, this also causes a lot of hallway noise). There is also a metal roller blind, which we lowered every night (needed for darkness & road noise). High quality robes and towels, with evening turndown service to replace towels. Included slippers. King bee was comfortable. Older style USB plugs on either side of bed. ||We were here for 5 nights. Location was excellent, you are just on the edge of the hustle of the main town area (3min walk to main square, which is at the edge of the Old Town area). You felt relaxed when you returned yo hotel after a busy day exploring. Sorrento Train & Bus Station was a 3 minute walk. We easily took the city train to Pompeii. ||Negatives:|- When you come in, you see 5-Star hotel sign, it’s definitely NOT, this is the hotel’s own designation. |- Nescafé instant coffee packet! For this room category & cost, I’d expect Nespresso or something similar. We had a Nespresso machine in our Rome hotel, which was half the price! Plus, no 5-star hotel has instant coffee packets in the room. |- Shampoo/Conditioner smelled like frankincense, totally nasty (you’re in Sorrento, have a lemon or floral aroma!). |- Road noise when patio door & steel shutters open. It’s on a busy road, but sea view side is very quiet, but you will hear some traffic noise, since part of the road is visible from this side. |- Service was just good, not amazing. |- Price, but after comparing other hotels that are on cliff with amazing views, quick walk to main square, I couldn’t find anything better. Fact is Italy is getting more and more expensive, I found all food & drink options in all of Italy very pricey.||Overall, it was a great experience, if I was to stay in Sorrento I would...
Read moreWhere to begin! This is a hotel which oozes style and service. You won’t regret investing in your stay here. ||Grounds - lots of spaces to sit and enjoy the views. Including the terrace and jetty. All maintained daily. ||Facilities- pool area is well maintained and being off peak it was an enjoyable experience to have the pool to myself! The seaside terrace offers further pleasant spaces to relax. The steps into the sea were a little wobbly and algae covered- to be expected in the sea! ||Room - spacious and well decorated, bathroom very nice. Housekeeping are very attentive, visiting several times a day. Chocolate at turn down is a special touch. ||Food - breakfast offers a range of options, including fresh fruit, cheeses, pastries, chef station for freshly cooked eggs! We also dined at the Al la Carte restaurant one evening, superb food and well on its journey to a Michelin star! We were highly impressed by the food, the quality ingredients, and service. ||Location - perfect! A short walk to the centre of Sorrento but set aside to enable a relaxing atmosphere. Some of the other 5 star hotels are a longer distance and would require taxis so this is a really well placed location base. ||Service- we attended Sorrento to be married at The Cloister, the hotel made sure every detail was special. A hand written card to welcome our arrival was a sign of the experience ahead. Staff were friendly and helpful. Clearly highly trained in hospitality services, a level of traditional service you don’t often see. We didn’t mention that it was my birthday but the hotel noticed on my passport, a further hand written card with small pastry was delivered to the room on a silver platter. ||Overall we felt this hotel was on another level! Highly...
Read moreThis hotel is the most wonderful place in the heart of Sorrento. It is conveniently situated about a 5 minute walk from the town square, the hotel and grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The food and drinks are most excellent! And every person on staff is top notch: friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The Easter brunch was second to none. And my mind was amazed at the presentation of the sea bass (it was presented cooked whole, and then filleted using only spoons and placed on our plates to enjoy.) The tiramisu was crafted tableside and was the best I have ever had. The staff were charming and friendly and conversational in English, but seemed pleasantly surprised when I tried to use some Italian phrases I had studied.
Rosario, the manager was so welcoming every time we entered the restaurant. Francesco was as well, and completely impressed us by delaying our whole fish each dinner at the table. Pauloa always assisted us with any need we might have in the restaurant. Davide, Sarah, Ettore, Serena made us feel so welcome with perfect service in the absolutely stunningly beautiful grand restaurant each day. Valeria was always such a welcoming presence at the egg station at the sumptuous and extensive breakfast buffet each morning. Salvatore and Marco did such a good job keeping us fed and hydrated while enjoying the beautiful terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples. The terrace is spacious and beautifully decorated and has the very best view of the sunset in the Sorrento. The grounds were lush and opulent, with many corners and surprises to explore. The pool looked inviting. The view of the Bay of Naples was enchanting. If you want to have a relaxing stay in a true oasis,...
