We had swordfish carpaccio and fillet steak with truffles. Both dishes were delicious and wine by the glass is also very good (vernaccia from San Gimignano and Nobile of Montepulciano). So why 4/5. A few reasons. The ambience felt a little sterile, there is no real heart to this place, the lighting is way too bright and the decor is just very uninspiring. The other reason is the service - it is professional but there is no warmth. There was no thank you or good buy at the end. Also, this was the only restaurant on our travel across Tuscany that did not offer a small something from the house (we were always brought biscoti or grapa or limoncelo). Here you get nothing. We were in and out in an hour having had 2 courses and two glasses of wine. Not a very romantic but a rather functional experience. You will eat well but will leave a little unfulfilled. We will think twice before going...

Super flavorful, beautiful crust, crispy fat and a perfect medium rare cook that made the meet so tender it was like eating tuna sashimi. Best thing we've eaten so far on our trip.
Everything else was excellent as well, we had the caprese, grilled veggis (very flavorful and perfect with the steak), the ricotta creme, and the lava cake (it was so gooey and delicious). The service was also excellent, very friendly and attentive.
It was such an excellent experience, and priced super reasonably, our whole meal was just over 90.
My only caution: make a reservation if you're coming for dinner, we were very lucky when we got a table.
I highly recommend for anyone coming to Montepulciano! Can't say enough...
Read moreWe spent a night in Montepulciano on our way back from Greece, and I managed to book this restaurant for the evening. It’s located on a beautiful square at the top of the village, with two sections of tables outside. It was very hot when we arrived, and we were happy to be in the one place in the village with a light breeze. The service was excellent — warm and friendly from the beginning of our meal until the end. The food was very good. My husband and I had the wild boar pasta, and my daughters the cheese ravioli and the pici pasta with ragu. Everybody enjoyed their dish. The deserts were also very good. My husband said the tiramisu was the best he had had the whole trip. The restaurant gets very busy, and many people were turned away while we were eating. Be sure to...
