This is not a garden for women! First of all: The 2 female waitresses were extremely friendly. BUT: We - 2 friends with their two daughters on holiday in Venice were asked by a male waiter (or the owner?) to leave our table immediately after paying for our consumption of 26€, because other guests needed the table (but I didn't see any) and this is not a garden but a bar. My girlfriend was just on the toilet with her daughter and the other two of us were still waiting and wanted to leave anyway, which I also told the waiter. Nevertheless, he took the chair WITH my daughter (13 years old!) and lifted it to where he thought the chair should be. I was speechless and stunned and was then also asked by the neighbor not to put up with this. I went into the pub and spoke to the gentleman about it, he ignored me. I went out - with admittedly unkind words, he followed me and insulted me in the worst way. If I had been a man, he would probably have hit me. Conversely, if we had been men, he would never have dared, a real Italian discontented Italian macho from my...
Read moreThis was the first espresso bar I was able to order from in Italy where I felt totally welcomed on my vacation. I was traveling in late October and it was the only cafe I could find that was open early outside the tourist areas. I highly respect the Italian culture for their late starts. In my case, I had to be up early and it was nice to find somewhere tucked away that was open. I did my best to order in Italian and was very shy/nervous. The owner told me in the sweetest way to slow down and we had a big laugh over it. Since I wanted to only speak Italian I was unable to really voice how nervous I was and also how much he made my day that morning. It was in that moment I truly felt I was in Italy. I had been in Italy for two days before this point but my journey through this beautiful country and the lovely city of Venice started the minute I stepped into this coffee shop. Thank you for this...

However, the door was wide open, so it stayed cold enough for us to leave coats on for the whole visit. Also, smoke rolled in from the outside patrons, which we didn't like as we're non-smokers. However, the weirdest bit was that 1. they played 80s/90s power ballads, 2. they played the same five power ballads for the whole 90 minutes we were there. In the end, we didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but had to leave early to maintain our sanity - despite then being forced to wander around in the cold for 20 minutes before our dinner reservation. Drinks were...
