Wow! This was a really nice find! First of all, the food was of a real quality, seafood fresh and cooked to perfection, polenta of beautiful consistency, neither too dry nor sticky, pasta freshly made, flavours blending very well including the proposed wine! Tiramisu was impeccable - pure classics! Both food and presentation were simple yet advanced. Second, the restaurant is tucked away in a small passage away from tourist crowds, heat and sweat, we really enjoyed a soft breeze dining outside after a hot day. Furthermore, we were met by friendly owner and staff, willing not only to serve us but also engage into a conversation giving a truly personalised experience. Finally, the price was very decent, considering that we paid the same amount in another restaurant the day before for much more rustic, mundane food - smaller portions, overcooked seafood and seafood sauce without any visible seafood... Well done! Keep up the good work and a concept of class that Venice has to offer yet at an...

There weren’t many ppl dine in here when we visited. Seems like a new restaurant. But totally worth every penny. Probably the best restaurant we tried in our 7 days trip in Italy. We tried the artichoke with sunchoke and chanterelles, gnocchi with scallop, veal with porcini and fried seafood. Everything is well thought and seasonal. Other restaurants we tried are more rustic but this one is more advanced fine dining even though with the same or lower price compared to those ones in busy locations. Not to mention the service. Service is warm, attentive and professional. 100% recommend. The 2nd day we tried more items: crudo, cuttlefish ink tagliatelle, polenta pasta, scallop au gratin and fried potato. Everything is very good and better than other restaurants whoever is doing...

My friend ordered the cuttle fish pasta, he never even got that when all our food came out the waiter said there was only 1 cook so it wasn’t made with the rest of our food?? And then the waiter said it was cuz our one friend didn’t order anything but a drink so he thought we didn’t need 4 dishes when one was an appetizer. he also didn’t even bring out his glass of wine. We ordered water and never got glasses, what are all 4 of us supposed to drink out of the same bottle ?? We also didn’t get the oil and vinegar for our bread but EVERYONE else did and he even poured their water into glasses at the table right next to us. Is it cuz we’re American ???? Horrible customer service. The food that we did get...

The culinary highlight of our time in Venice. We stumbled across Ostrega while walking home our first night and looking for a quick little dessert spot. We were met with such incredible hospitality that we decided to return the next day for dinner. Claudie and his brother Tony made us feel like we were a part of their family for the evening. The food was incredible and the wine selection was the perfect compliment. We left with full bellies, big smiles, and a recommendation on where we should eat the following day. If we hadn't stopped there the first night the rest of our time in Venice would have felt very different. Hope to return some day soon!

If you’re looking for an authentic Italian seafood experience, away from the crazy sweaty crowds, this is it! Nicely tucked in a beautiful alley just beyond the bustling that is tourism, you will find Ostrega. A wonderful, family owned authentic restaurant with the best hospitality and even better food! Doesn’t matter which dish you choose, you cannot go wrong and I mean it. The flavors were out of this world, the pricing is favorable and fair and I will definitely be coming back to enjoy. Bon appetit!
