Ristorante Trovatore — Restaurant in Venice

Awful experience. I was in Venice with my girl , we were looking for a place to eat and then we saw this good looking restaurant with a lot of people inside so we decided it was a good option. We waited 1 hr to get our food, i had to tell the waiter to bring the beer i was ordered 3 times and at the end we noticed that all the people that were inside were groups guided by tourist guides, french people, spaniards, etc.

The check was 100.6 euros for 2 spaguettis and 1 side. YES! 100.6 never paid that much before, not in london in Oxford street, not in Paris in Montmartre. There was a 15% tips included in this place, it was a joke , the service, the food, the time all was bad, of course when restaurants include the tips the service is bad because waiters take tips for granted without any effort. In London they recommend 12.5% just in the finest restaurants like i salir before, sohoo, Oxford street but this was a joke.

Worst place i've ever been in...

Con mia moglie Daniela, Il 14 luglio in attesa della festa del SS Redentore, mentre passegiavamo lungo una via adiacente S. Marco abbiamo notato due locali che si fronteggiano: a uno vi era fuori un signore che invitava i passanti entrare... era italiano ma dentro gestito da orientali, credo cinesi e scegliemmo di entrare al Trovatore. Dal nome ho capito che era quello dell'opera di Giuseppe Verdi, quindi italianissimo tricolore. Visto l'ora di pranzo siamo entrati e abbiamo capito di non esserci sbagliati: molto carino, romantico, informale, con difusa buona musica sinfonica. Ci ha accolto con molto calore un ragazzo giovane e distinto, saputo poi il titolare, Walter il quale gestisce con la moglie Alessia anche lei giovanissima e simpatica. Ci hanno fatto accomodare; qualche chiacchera di conoscenza con simpatia e subito è arrivato il cameriere Pasquale, tipicamente napoletano, che simpaticamente ci ha servito un prosecco con un piccolo delizioso antipasto della casa di benvenuto, ovviamente offerto. Nel menu Sembrava tutto buonissimo e c'era l'imbarazzo della scelta per cui ci siamo fidati di Walter e abbiamo lasciato fare a lui. Nella giusta tempistica è arrivato il cameriere Filippo, filippino, anche lui molto simpatico che poi si alternava con Pasquale. Subito ci hanno portato un vino bianco fermo in bottiglia gradevolissimo, rimasto sul secchiello del ghiaccio bello fresco sino a termine pasto e quando Pasquale e Filippo passavano vedendo il bicchiere vuoto lo riempivano, anche quello dell'acqua. Abbiamo cominciato con "Sinfonia del Trovatore: degustazione di antipasti caldi e freddi della casa" il primo gnocchi di patate (fatti in casa) con cozze, pomodorini e zucchine, gustoso e delicato; il secondo Frittura mista del Trovatore con salsa tartara, bella calda secca e croccante al punto giusto e terminato con il dolce tipico di crema fritta, delizioso, caffè e amaro. Devo dire che è stato tutto eccellente, serviti e trattati signorilmente come i Dogi. Il personale preparatissimo e raffinato nel servire, facendoci sentire nel contempo in famiglia. Tutti, compresi i titolari, ogni tanto chiedevano se andava tutto bene; Pasquale e Filippo simpaticissimi. Abbiamo anche fatto un selfie. Alessia dovendo assentarsi passò a salutarci. Il conto: trovandoci vicino a Piazza S. Marco, il giorno della festa del Redentore e come abbiamo mangiato, complimenti allo Chef, è stato più che giusto e ci ritorneremo. Horrid place. How can an "Italian" restaurant not know the difference between spaghetti and linguini? Or tomato sauce from whatever that stuff was. All food tasted like microwaved frozen dinners from Swansons. Nothing tested freshly made. The only use for the house wine is possible to mix with olive oil and pour on a salad. All the 5 star reviews for this place must be bogus. No way anyone who has eaten anywhere beyond a McDonald's would enjoy this food. This is strictly meant for poor tour groups on a cheap food included trip. Run, now seriously run from here.
