Terrible attendance. I was never treated this way in any restaurant in Italy.

It was a Christmas dinner (2019). I went with my family in this restaurant. First point is that we reserved a table, and instead of positioning us well, they put us downstairs, which looked like a basement.

What ruined the night was definitely the waiter. As soon as we arrived, he wanted us to order the main dishes. We said we didn't want, so we could start with drinks, starters and so on, and he said he had to speed up because there were"lots of people to attend to".

Simply ridiculous, I do not recommend it to anyone.

Pessimo atendimento.

Simplesmente ridiculo, nao recomendo pra...

Although this is named as an "Osteria", which traditionally implies simple local food at relatively cheap prices, I strongly believe this particular establishment is much higher class than a typical traditional osteria and it is really getting close to high level dining.

The ambiance was beautiful and classy the staff very nice and helpful without being overbearing.

The dishes do indeed include a variety of local dishes that very well executed and perfectly presented. I had the beef cheek slow cooked in Amarone wine with polenta and it was very nice.

The selection of wines is very good and the locally produced Valpolicella was perfect.

Where the place does indeed really shine was in the desert area. The ricotta and pistachio tart was nothing short of perfection.

The restaurant may be a bit more expensive than a typical osteria but not by very much. Be mindful that in the Italian touristic areas you may end up in some awful tourist traps that would cost way much more and the food will be unworthy to feed to a pig... The quality you get in Osteria da Ugo is more than justifying the price.

I definitely plan to go there again when I will be...

Poor cooking and service My wife's familiy is from Verona and we decided to try Osteria Ugo for dinner. Three of us ordered meat dishes and were asked about which cooking level we would like. I asked for "rare" but was presented a piece of meat that was close to "well-done". This was highlighted to the staff which after some discussion agreed to redo the order. This time the meat arrived "blue rare" and barely warm in the middle (probably ~35C or 95F). Clearly a poor attempt to not overcook the meat. I once again highlighted that this was not what I expected and that the meat should at least be warm. This time the waiter didn't event want to discuss further. I left hungry and very unhappy from the...

A favore: porzione buone. Sevizio: Buono. Compreso fenoneno? We had lunch out in the terrace. It was lovely out. Not sure if the food warranted all the raving here though. We had the zuchini flowers and ugo tasting appetizer (zuchini flower, marinated beef and roasted ham) as starters and parmigiana eggplant and bigoli with rabbit ragu mains. All dishes were ok. Just ok. Not horribly inedible nor particularly outstanding. We had a glass of house pouring white, a Soave and a rose. Too warm to be delicious. Service is perfunctory and pretentious.
