Pasticceria Barini — Restaurant in Verona

I wouldn’t recommend this café if you're looking for a pleasant experience. I recently visited this café while traveling, hoping for a relaxing spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry. While the pastry was quite nice, I was disappointed with the coffee, which was rather average. What truly ruined the experience, however, was the atmosphere and the service. Located in a busy tourist area, I was surprised that none of the staff could speak English, which made communication difficult. They were quite rude, shouting when they didn’t have what I ordered, which made me feel uncomfortable. It seems like this is a family-run business, but unfortunately, they didn’t make any effort to be polite or welcoming. A smile or a bit of kindness goes a long way, especially for travelers. In my experience, good hospitality is essential, especially in gastronomy. If you can’t keep your temper in check or treat customers with respect, it creates a negative experience. During my trip through Italy, I never encountered such behavior at other cafés or restaurants, making this place stand out for all the wrong reasons. Sadly, it left me feeling disappointed and affected my overall mood...

Pasticceria pessima! Mi sono recata in questa pasticceria insieme ad una mia amica per chiedere su prenotazione due torte per il nostro compleanno, lo desideravamo a forma di cuore e alte (allego poi foto di cosa abbiamo richiesto e cosa ci hanno fatto) avevamo chiesto assolutamente che la torta fosse uguale alla foto e se fossero capaci a farlo, ci hanno riferito che ce lo facevano tale e quale a come lo desideravamo. Oggi mi arriva la telefonata dicendoci che hanno invertito le scritte (quindi la mia scritta nella torta della mia amica, e la sua nella mia), nonostante questo sbaglio, abbiamo comunque deciso di prendere le torte dato che la festa si terrà oggi. Durante il ritiro delle torte, notiamo che sono completamente diverse a ciò che volevamo, e come risposta ci è stata data “fare la pasticciera è difficile provate voi a fare questo mestiere” in maniera molto arrogante dalla responsabile signora del posto. Non ci hanno dato possibilità di dialogo ne tantomeno di avere un confronto con qualcuno, ci hanno trattato peggio degli animali quando lo sbaglio era solo loro! “Voi siete delle persone particolari, se volete la torta bene sennò potete pure andarvene, la torta che avete richiesto era troppo difficile e noi non siamo in grado di farla” queste sono state le risposte che ci sono state date dalla signora e dal signor Paolo, nonostante noi fossimo volenterose per un dialogo e trovare un punto d’incontro (la quale la signora del posto, responsabile penso, ha dato tutta la colpa del compito svolto male alla signora Paola, che in quel momento non c’era) Io pago un servizio, se non è ciò che desidero, per cosa pago a fare? Se non erano in grado di fare ciò che abbiamo richiesto, potevano dircelo da subito e andavamo in un’altra pasticceria. Mi sono trovata molto male e non consiglio a nessuno questo posto, avete appena perso un cliente e soprattutto imparate l’importanza...

The smallest size of torte russa de Verona is the whole cake (piccola) for 13 EUR. So in order to try it, you have to buy a whole cake. Which I did, as I'm a pastry chef and wanted to try it. Unfortunately, I didn't like it at all... Full of artificial almond flavour and the dough is made with margarine, not with real butter, which you can taste immediately. So after one slice, I had to throw away the rest, which is a waste. I don't know if only this pastry shop uses such low quality ingredients or it's like that everywhere, as I don't plan on trying this...
