EARTH VILLAGE IZAKAYA — Restaurant in Chatan

We made a reservation for 16 people and had 4 people cancel the same day. I called immediately when they opened at 5:30 pm. They said they already prepared the food so we would still have to pay ¥2500 for the four people that will not be attending. I was upset but I understood and said we would. However, when I received the check, they still charged us ¥5000 for those four people, even though part of the course includes all you can drink. Why would they charge us extra when they already told me that it would be less because there won’t be anyone there to drink for those four people not attending?

Also, they did not serve us the food that they said was prepared for the group of 16. So why even charge us for food you won’t even serve us?

They essentially just took our money and didn’t serve us the food they claimed they already prepared for us.

They said that if we needed to make any changes to the reservation, it needed to be three days in advance. Where is this information available for us to know? I did...

When we arrived, we were the only customers. we did not get all our food we ordered and felt we waited long enough. We all walked towards the front to make sure nothing else was being cooked, and tried to pay. The server/cashier was no where to be found and the chef tried to hunt him down. We had to wait about 20 minutes before we could pay our tab because the chef had to leave and find the cashier/host. He never showed up and someone from chatan steam had to help the chef. I didn’t catch the chefs name, but he was the kindest person. It was just the lack of communication from the server that made this experience subpar. Also, they don’t have as many beers as they advertise (at least the menu didn’t show that many). The food here was a major letdown, especially considering the high reviews. It felt overpriced for what we received, and we were honestly surprised by the quality. The inside was also uncomfortably hot, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. We decided to leave before our last two dishes even came out, choosing to save our appetites for something better, especially since we were celebrating a birthday.
