Short version: We were misled that we could have a full two hour all you can eat dine and drink period as explained by our waitress. At best we had an hour and 15 dine and drink period. This was made worse by extremely long breaks in food and drink service. They slow rolled the service like nothing I’ve experienced at a Brazilian Steakhouse. The meats offered were a 5 out of 10 in terms of quality and a 0.5 out of 10 in quantity. The buffet was about a 4 out of 10 quality overall. The drinks were standard “all you can drink” weak drinks. The wait staff was courteous but clearly not interested in us getting our money’s worth. The $70/person price was beyond outrageous based on the extremely slow service and low quality. I caution people who have been to Brazilian Steakhouses in the states or elsewhere, this will not be what you’re used to and it is not close to worth the price.
Our Full Experience: Our party of 4 paid for the premium service ($70/person) which consisted of more meat options than the standard $39/person deal and all you can drink from a select drink menu for 2 hours. We arrived around 830 (closing time was 11) and asked if we would still get the full 2 hours since that would be close to closing time. We were assured that we would get the full 2 hours of food and drinks no problem.
Our first meat offering was brought by 25 minutes after placing our order. After our first drink order we went approximately 20 minutes before our waitress came back to take another drink order. There were only 3 other tables at the restaurant and the wait staff was in no way overly taxed to take drink orders. The rest of the night went about this pace. They slow rolled all of the meat and our drinks to the point where we would sit and look around for 15 minutes at a time trying to get the attention of our wait staff to ask for more meat and drinks.
At one point the staff peaked around the corner at our table to see if we still had our marker out indicating we were still eating, which we did. This was about an hour and fifteen in to our 2 hour meal. Our first waitress had left for the night by now (no change over with our new waitress or anything) and our second waitress came and asked if we were ready for pineapple (if you’re unfamiliar that means your done with dinner). We said no and asked if we could have more meat, but she explained they were done for the night. I would have expected the waitress at the very least to have stopped by and said, “hey we’re wrapping up would you like a few more offerings before we finish!” Had we been close to the end of our two hour time limit and not at an hour and fifteen that would have made sense.
The staff then came by and brought out pineapple at the hour and a half mark. No one asked us if we would like more drinks despite our last order being 20 min prior and all of our drinks empty. We finally were able to track down a waiter (our second waitress was nowhere to be seen) and get a final drink order. We left at about the hour and forty-five minute mark with no staff in sight in case we wanted a last drink order (this is around 1015 and they close at 11). Once they spotted us standing at the register a waiter came out to...
Read moreWe got to FOGO brazil on a Sunday with an 8:30PM reservation (via opentable) and we’re glad we made a reservation. The place had a big group that made them busy and even though we checked in 15min before our reservation, we were seated 5min later.
Food: you get to choose the level of all u can eat meat. The most expensive one came with all you can drink selected alcohol drink. There is a buffet wiith salad, stew, fruits, rice, etc. On your table, there is a buzzer you can use to call staff for something you need but you can’t use it to call for meat, you need to wait for the staff that offers the grilled meat to walk to your table. My fave is the grilled pineapple. Some of the meat were spiced very strongly, my hubby loves it cause that’s how he likes his food. I don’t. Meat wise, the pork is my fave, spiced and cooked just right. Most of the beef I had was pretty gamey and it was ok. Buffet has wide selection of food as mentioned. Last kitchen call was 9PM.
Staff: Staff is pretty nice and attentive considering how busy they were. All staff speaks very good English, some of them are obviously native speakers. They apologized many times how unexpectedly busy they were. The guys that come around with meat were pretty funny, like a grandma making you eat more lol.
Ambience: We were seated outside facing the water. it was raining a little bit but it was late so we didn’t enjoy the view much.
Price: depending what level you ordered, price is pretty reasonable. We paid under $80 for two of us.
Overall good. We may come back for...
Read moreWe decided to have churrascaria steak house to try something new, tried out Fogo which is along the coast in Chatan, beautiful views during sunset and there are many restaurants around there so it is always nice to take a stroll before or after dinner.
The meal come with a salad bar which has multiple usual Japanese and Westen salad options, it is Japan so steam rice is always available. The options of salad bar though not abundant it was still a good selection as it also comes with fruits and chocolate fountains and also soft serve ice cream. There was a stew available in case you are not stuffed by the meat.
Now on to the meat, we have tried everything except wagyu and lamb chops which was supposed to be in the selection but they didn’t come around to our table.
The seasoning of the meat was good, they served ribs, chicken, sausages, Mexican cheese bread, different cuts of steaks with marinades too.
My favorite was the Okinawa grilled pineapple, wasn’t sure what the spice was but it feels like there is some cinnamon which adds to the Christmas vibe. Okinawa is famous for its pineapple, the sweetness of it is like no others, and I ended up having many portions of the grilled pineapple which help me to digest all the meats.
The price though was steep, not sure if it was Christmas or it is more like an American dining place but it was like JPY9800 per pax which if I opt for regular buffet, it probably will cost half of this amount. Nevertheless, a different feel for Christmas with Brazilian...
