Wagyu Steak RIPPLE 〜ROOF TOP〜 — Restaurant in Chatan

Worst dining experience I’ve had in Japan—hands down. Came to Wagyu Bar RIPPLE 〜ROOF TOP〜 in Okinawa, thinking we’d enjoy a nice dinner with a view. Big mistake.

We were seated at the bar, then completely ignored for 15+ minutes. No water, no menu, no one even acknowledged us. Staff walked past us again and again, like we were invisible. Not even eye contact. It was honestly shocking, especially in Japan where hospitality is usually top-notch.

I finally had to get up and ask for the manager. A guy who looked like a chef came out, muttered a half-hearted “sorry,” and left. That’s it. No explanation, no service, nothing.

It felt like we weren’t welcome at all—like we were deliberately being ignored. The discrimination was obvious, and I’m not someone who throws that word around lightly.

Absolutely disgraceful. If you’re a foreign tourist, don’t waste your time or money here. There are plenty of better places in Okinawa where you’ll actually be treated like a...

The view was beautiful, but the food was low quality. The Wagyu was over cooked and chewy even though I removed it from the sizzling skillet it was served on cooked into it immediately. I can’t imagine how tough it would have been if I hadn’t. The bacon asparagus was good but under cooked. The restaurant uses the patio where I was seated for smokers. Although it came with a beautiful view, it wasn’t worth it. I couldn’t move inside because there were no tables to eat at inside. The establishment appears to be mostly for drinking. Several people came outside so I requested a to go box to take my food to go but was informed that they don’t have those so I have now spent 8500yen on a less than subpar meal I can’t even take home to doctor and use for fried rice. TLDR: staff chatting around us, almost every menu is sold out and the pictures and website are misleading.

I made a reservation for this restaurant and I was very excited based on the pictures and menu. I was very disappointed to find that the pictures shown are rather misleading. I arrived to be told that the outdoor seating was fully booked even though there were empty seats from when I arrived to when I left. I was at no time told to reserve indoor or outdoor and they claim all seats have an ocean view which is a lie. The staff were constantly standing around us and chatting, I felt as though one of them was just watching us eat and I felt very uncomfortable.
