This café was one of the few places that open in the morning, so I waited until 11 a.m. to visit. Interestingly, they have a pay-after system, which is different from most cafés.
Around 11:30 a.m., more customers started to arrive, including some with young children. The kids were quite noisy, but the owner didn’t intervene. Personally, I believe kids can be like that, so I didn’t mind too much.
By around 11:40 a.m., the place was getting crowded, so I thought it would be considerate to leave my seat for others. I said "thank you" in my limited Japanese and walked out. But while I was halfway down the stairs, the owner suddenly came out, loudly telling me to come back and pay.
I was surprised but immediately returned, apologized multiple times, and paid the bill. Despite my sincere apologies and immediate action, the owner remained visibly upset, refused to acknowledge my apology, and kept raising his voice.
I understand it was my mistake to forget the payment, but I felt the reaction was excessive, especially since I returned right away and apologized. It also gave me the impression that the owner might have discomfort or bias toward foreign visitors. Unfortunately, it left me with a negative impression despite the other aspects...
Read moreCoffee experience that will make you fall in love and cry 😂. This is specialty coffee with Japanese craftsmanship and jazzy romantic atmosphere.
I sat at the counter and witnessed the barista prepare the pour over with utmost precision, measuring coffee weight and temperature precisely with a great pouring technique. The single origin Honduras La Sabana I tried was sweet with a very nice "juicy" acidity. Very impressed. A true coffee for purists. No milk necessary.
Bonus: place has 1Gbps...
Read moreThey clearly don’t like foreigners because they were incredibly rude to me and my friend. We both speak Japanese and we were treated very poorly by the staff. We tried asking for more water and the staff members seemed to think it was funny to that the foreign customers were asking for water.
Also, the drinks and prices were pretty outrageous. For what we paid for we could have gone to Starbucks instead. From now on, when people come to visit Fukuoka I will tell my friends not...
