Cafe Brasileiro — Restaurant in Fukuoka

VERY RUDE STAFF I visited here, and one staff(men) was really rude. Heres what happened

He was working at 2nd floor and let us sit in front of the toilet(although there were full of empty spots). He ignored us for almost 10min even though he was standing in front of us. He didn’t give us menu or water while other customers were served(who arrived later than us). I was looking at him, but he ignored and didn’t look us intentionally. After we arrived, 5 tables were filled with customers, and he served water and menu immediately to them. When finally he looked at us, he threw the menu(literally throw) on our table and didn’t give us water until we leave

I felt so bad, and was very upset. I think he ignored us only because we weren’t Japanese. He was really rude, unmannered which...

I ordered the hamburger steak with rice and it's delicious.

The waiter are super friendly. When they saw me using Google lens to translate the menu, they immediately bring over the English menu.

Arrived at the restaurant 11ish. When i left the restaurant around 12ish, 4 out of their 6 lunch menu items are already sold out. So do head over to the restaurant early!

음식에 대한 기대를 안고 방문했지만, 인테리어와 분위기 외에는 특별할 것이 없는 가게였습니다. 저희 부부는 다국어를 사용해 일본어를 어느 정도 이해할 수 있었는데, 이 점이 오히려 화근이 되었습니다. 여행 오기 전, 후쿠오카 분들은 일본 다른 지역과 다른 특색이 있다는 이야기를 일본분들로부터 들었었습니다. 이곳에서는 특히 무례하고 시끄러운 일본인 그룹이(그 외의 식사하시던 분들은 제가 아는 나이스한 일본분들이셨던듯합니다.) 저희가 메뉴를 일본어로 읽지 못하는 것에 대해 큰소리로 비웃고 험담을 늘어놓는 모습을 그대로 들어야 했습니다. 그들의 행동은 매우 부끄러움이 없었으며, 대놓고 저희를 쳐다보며 눈알을 굴리는 무례함까지 더해졌습니다.

흥미로운 점은, 그러한 태도를 가진 사람들이 과연 자신들의 모국어를 제대로 구사할 수 있을까 하는 의문입니다. 상대방의 처지와 상황을 이해할 수 있는 최소한의 지능이나 교양을 기대한 것이 제 실수였을지도 모릅니다. 그들이 언어를 한개라도 제대로 구사할 수 있는지 궁금할 따름입니다. 이런 경험은 뉴욕에 거주하며 세계 곳곳을 여행하고, 도쿄에 자주 방문하는 저에게조차 처음 있는 일입니다.

음식 역시 실망스러웠습니다. 전반적으로 인스턴트 같은 맛에 지나치게 달았고, 고기류의 식감은 다소 불쾌했습니다. 특히 롤케이크는 판매 자체가 의문스러울 정도로 형편없었으며, 딱딱하고 마른 식감은 마치 크루통을 먹는 듯했습니다. 지나친 단맛은 그나마 남은 기대감마저 없애버렸습니다. 차라리 고문 도구로 사용되었다면 더 적합했을지도 모르겠습니다. 커피와 크림은 괜찮았습니다.

저희를 담당했던 남성 서버분은 친절했으나, 나머지 직원들은 표정부터 불쾌했고 태도 역시 불성실했습니다. 게다가 현금 결제만 가능하다는 점은 시대착오적이고, 세금 회피를 의심케 했습니다.

이 가게는 단순히 오래된 가게가 아니라, 마치 (존재한적도 없는 가상의) 과거로 타임머신을 타고 돌아간 듯한 경험을 제공합니다. 하지만 이는 긍정적인 의미가 아닙니다. 이곳은 오히려 관광객들에게 이 지역의 ‘특별함’을 각인시키기에 충분할 것입니다. 다만, 그 특별함이 기억에 남고 싶은...
