Tenjin Yatai Naka-chan — Restaurant in Fukuoka

Such a charming Yatai spot! Serves grilled meat, seafood, okonomiyaki, ramen and more! Apparently it has been opened for 35 years and more, and it truly was an experience eating here. The food was so delicious and fresh. The wagyu, while small, was so irresistible and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The grilled seafood mix was a burst of freshness and the Oden was so nourishing to eat in the cold weather. The mentaiko tamagoyaki was delicious but I felt could use more mentaiko inside as it was not really detectable. Ramen was rich and hearty too!

We arrived around 550pm but there was already a queue ahead of us and the stall is only able to cater to a rather small group of people. Managed to seat down around 45mins of waiting, (people usually take about 30mins to order eat and leave)

Waited for 50 min with a group of 5 which is acceptable because of how many people we had but once the seats freed up he shoved 1 more seat in an already tight space and forced 7 people to squeeze together with the existing 6. Sitting in a fetal position he eventually took our orders but was obviously overwhelmed which led to another 20 minutes of waiting where orders were given at random times regardless of the order it was taken. When I finally received my order it tasted as I expected after watching the chef cook and ignore my food, unseasoned except for the suffocating amount of okonomiyaki sauce and kewpie on top. Their yakiramen was their only saving grace after trying the ones my friends ordered. In conclusion, if there isn't a line give it a shot, however this quality of food and service is no where near...

We’ve spent there 1h30 filled with good food, alcohol and good company! My boyfriend speaks Japanese so it was a bit easier, but the staff was extremely friendly and the freshly made food was delicious. We happened to be for the chef’s 60th birthday so it was a lot of toasts and laughing ! Be prepared that other people may want to share drinks, and pour their beer into your glass.
