Musashibo Honten — Restaurant in Hiroshima

We came here ready to enjoy our meal and are used to using ordering machines in Japan. We asked for clarification on the set menu, but the staff member helping us couldn’t speak English well enough to explain, which is completely fine.

However, when we tried to pay, the machine kept rejecting our bill, and we were confused. A kind nearby customer let us know the machine only accepts old bills, and we needed to exchange it at the counter. It would have been helpful if the staff had told us this, especially since another worker with good English came up later to ask for our spice level preference. It felt strange that he saw us struggling but didn’t step in sooner.

The most disappointing part was when we sat down and saw the staff visibly laughing at us. This felt extremely unprofessional and left a sour taste before we even received our food.

This is exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking for a quick lunch with a punch this place is for you. They offer various levels of spicy ramen. The most spicy of which is labeled"Death". I just ate the "Death" ramen and I'm fairly confident that if I had COVID this stuff just murdered it. (Warning!! This is not the usual level of spice that Japanese eat. While this place is described as Ramen restaurant, it is actually a tantanmen restaurant. It's close to Ramen, but with a different, lesser sauce.

I ate tantanmen the first time, and can highly suggest it.

You can choose between 2 sauces and how spicy (1-4) you want the sauce. Degree 2 was perfect for me, and I like spicy. Guess 4 would be too hot for me.
