CAMPO su OVEST — Restaurant in Kyoto

We were exploring Kyoto, when we got hungry and aas we saw this tiny little restaurant, we knew, we wanted to take the time to sit down and enjoy the meal.

The restaurant is decorated with love and gives the vibe of a modern style fine dining club, with well chosen music, a nice calm ambiente and only some few tables around you. The waiter/barkeeper was highly trained in all facettes of modern dining etiquette and the small details he took care of, such as some tiny woodsticks to put the silverware on, we're just the cherry on the icing. He knew very well, when he was needed and stayed in the background but always just a blink of an eye away.

The food was fantastic and even if this is one of the more expensive restaurants in the area, it was worth every penny.

I Germany, where we live, I constantly am a guest of highly sophisticated restaurants because my job requires business dinners a lot. This restaurant is top tier. We both agreed, that was one of the best, if not the best dinner we had.

This restaurant and it's staff are phenomenal.

The best place for us so far! First the cosy ambiance, the beautiful and original decoration that brings you into a magical forest! The wood is the main element, even the food is served on amazing pieces of wood..then the food ! Delicate, delicious with the wood-fire taste. Everything was divine. The service was excellent and attentive. Menu is in English that is so convenient, there is also many elaborated cocktails, nice wine and beers. It is so warm and welcoming that it is hard to leave ! Amazing work...

I was craving grilled Kyoto vegetables and randomly found this place, but it was unexpectedly good! I walked in without a reservation, and all the tables were taken, leaving only a counter seat available. I was the only foreign tourist, but the server was very polite and attentive. They had grilled Isaki(イサキ), which is a great fish in June! The only downside was the 30-minute wait between the isaki and vegetable grills, so I couldn't enjoy them together.
