I was introduced to this cafe by a local Kyoto friend of mine. We went there together on that late night, which was around midnight. The good point to be there at that time with my friend was to see the whole atmosphere as he explained it with me.
So, the cafe was hosted in the old school style where you go there with a free smoking in the cafe, news paper on the table, chairs and table set up basics. However, you can find different groups of customers from young generation who comes for catch-up or late study. Or a group of middle-age men for coffees and small talks.
Importantly, the coffee here is served in syphon style. Freshly made by choosing from different varieties type of beans on the menu. My friend and I had opposite taste of coffee. But we both got our coffee nice and correctly as we wish.
Must-Try: house-baked cheesecake. Best to compatible with your coffee. It’s not too sweet. Slightly creamy and not too dense but to keep you scooping small bite every time.
Hope you will enjoy the nostalgic memories when you check in...
Read moreWorst experience in Kyoto. Before entering this café, I thought everyone in Japanese hospitality is friendly and gently, But when we were having a late night snack here, we had the worst experience ever, the old owner at night was very rude, and force us to order one cake each for everyone or he won’t allow you to start eating, and when we leave our clothes on the empty chair that right close to ours, he just pick my clothes up and literally throw it at me.
What I mean is: you could have lots of rules and you could have your own style, but at least you should be politely and be a bit patiently to us. Even I cannot speak Japanese, but I could still understand it a little bit, he wasn’t even trying to speak anything that trying to communicate with us, all I feel is his anger and hate to us. Never ever coming back to this place.
