Excellent food and very cosy atmosphere! I would highly recommend this place! The food is very well thought out fusion of Japanese and European cuisine. We ordered two different lunch sets, Kyoto-style set menu and Juicy Hulf Pounder Steak, and then shared them. Both sets were very tasty but especially the steak was insanely good. I definitely would like to have it for a second time. The place is just a bit more expensive than average lunch but you get more meat and vegetables instead of rice. Soft drinks like orange or apple juice are also included. The atmosphere is the very cosy. It is a joy to observe the small details of decorations. No doubt that a lot of thought was put in them. If you would like to try a bit different Kyoto food, this one cannot go wrong!
The only downside is that I felt a bit that staff kind of wasn't present. For example no one told me that the drinks are included and I didn't find anything written about it, even in Japanese, so I had to assume it and just take by myself. Still this is partially our own fault because we sat to the table after lunch time was over already. I am glad that they accepted us and we got to enjoy our lunch in a very quiet atmosphere just...
Read moreWe had to queue for almost 1hr to get a table here at this restaurant for lunch. It's a small place, with probably fewer than 10 tables. Is it worth it? I must say it is quite worth it, but do this only if you have extra time (in our case, 1 of us queued for the table, the rest continued to shop in Nishiki market).
Once we got our table, service was prompt and servers were friendly.
I love their set menu, so many small dishes, so you get to sample different stuff, and they were all delicious. My children ordered steak and acai bowl. Both of them were very happy with their order.
The restaurant is nicely decorated, with dried flowers hanging from the ceiling, you will forget about the queueing earlier, and will have a...
Read moreThis might not be common knowledge, but this place is run by two brothers who really do care about what goes onto a plate. They work to see if a dish works, and from there put it on a menu.
The food, atmosphere, and aesthetics of this joint are sublime, and present a surprisingly homey atmosphere in what is normally a touristy district. Give it a try, and you'll see the dynamic of this restaurant at work in a good way.
Cocktails are also a good specialty of the owner, and are certainly no watered down after thought or overly sugared misstep. Their drink selection isn't slacking either, and specializes in presenting the best of Kyoto, but not in a way that throws taste or smell under the bus on the way to give a...
