Ridiculously good Italian at a ridiculously low (for Kyoto) price point. This small, lovely, very warm place is run by a single chef who, despite having zero experience of studying cooking in Italy, somehow creates flavors that temporarily transport you to that elusive “Dolce Vita”.
Definitely go for assorted ham plate, - presentation that I saw on a table next to mine was excellent, - and enjoy humble tomato/mozzarella that without doubt was the best I had in Japan. Pasta varieties are plentiful: this time tried Napoli style pasta with high quality pancetta, homey and flavorful. Do not skip desert, and go for that crema catalana which is traditionally quite heavy but here is made lighter, fruity by the addition of passion fruit.
