After a night of watching Romance Doll, a teary-eyed Japanese Drama Flick... I needed a good cup of Coffee!

Maeda Coffee is a Japanese Coffee chain that's popular with native Japanese and tourists. It's been around for over fifty years, so obviously a good sign. I was also told that it's on the higher end of quality.

In Kyōtō I was fortunate to have one about two blocks from my hotel, so after a stroll through Nishiki Market I decided to grab a cup of Joe at Maeda. I enter to a warm Japanese greeting and led to my table. I noticed only Japanese there on my visit おはよう ございます!

I am handed the menu which is about 90% in Japanese, but the servers know enough English to sense what you want. I speak a 2nd grade Japanese so I'm kinda ok lol. Pretty much I wanted a light breakfast so went with Toast Set that includes a Potato Salad, small Salad , Japan Toast, and the Latté I craved. Only ¥800 which translates to under $6.00. ありがとう

These typical Japanese cafés should be the standard across the grobe. Service polite & professional, table setting perfect, and then I get the cutest Coffee mug! These are the details that makes life happier! The Milk Bread Toast so simple, yet so delicious. The Latté so smooth and did I mention that cute af mug?! ^.^

I would return to Maeda in a heartbeat! A company that stands by quality and lives the Ganbatte spirit. The breakfast sets are a deal, but I might return for a lunch set one day. I already know I'll be taken care of!

Expensive and average food. I was hoping for Japanese options, but nothing jumped out at me, so I ordered the roast beef sandwich. The meat was ok, slighhly stringy, and the bun was a pretty average white bread. The "veggies" were just lettuce. Perverted view of what a good Western style sandwich is (I wonder, is this how the Japanese feel eating Japanese food abroad?). The coffee was diner quality, not worth the 450 yen they ask for it (though it was included with the sandwich).
