So little reviews! This is a hidden gem and we're really happy to find it! Bed is comfy, location is good with just 600m walk to Karasuma station/shijo metro station. We managed to walk to Imperial Palace and to Potoncho Alley. ||||It's somewhat no frills (change your own towels, bring out your own trash etc) but for mid range travelers like us, it's really good. Large enough room, washer, food, supermarket and a great bike rental (Bol Motors) nearby. It's everything we want! The place is really clean as well! Just to highlight that walls r thin though. We can totally hear our neighbors' talking (murmurs) and the rumbling of their washing machine working until midnight. But it's white noise to us. We were a little stressed about our 3 year old making too much noise and disturbing others, but other than that,...
Read moreUnclean rooms, very thin barebone walls that makes it as if you are living with your neighbors. Upon check-in, I found hair follicles on my bed. Staff (lady) at front desk very clueless and unhelpful. Could not sleep the whole night as baby in next door room was crying the whole night, entire conversation of neighboring family can be heard. They were even kicking the walls and you could hear them talking and cooking. You feel as if you are living in one of those cramped apartments in Hong Kong or Mainland China. Tries to nickle and dime you for things like detergent (100 yen per use, ridiculous. Go and buy a pack of 10 detergent at Lawson for 200 yen) and plates/cutlery (500 yen per stay). Avoid this dirty and noisy place...
Read moreI'm truly surprised that there isn't a review for Koiyamacho yet, as I was very impressed by its affordable price in comparison to hotels in its vicinity, and its proximity to two subway stations, Nishiki market, Daimaru, and even modern fusion cafes and classic Japanese eateries. The room also comes equipped with a mini kitchen, and a small laundrette area (washing machine and clothes rack) with detergent. The receptionist was very friendly and earnest - despite not being able to speak much English, he was eager to help, assisted with our heavy luggage and even dropped by with two cans of welcome drinks after that. Overall, it was a superb mini-home that is clean and...
