Another great restaurant (the best so far) recommended to me by my tour guide. The restaurant is tucked away in an alley just a 2-3 minute walk from the bus stop. The Chef (Shunsuke Masaki) prepared a memorable and exquisite Japanese style 9-course meal using the freshest local ingredients available. Many of the dishes left me speechless as each course kept getting better significantly exceeding expectations. Chef Masaki is truly an expert in this craft, his performance and skill shown tonight was like that of a dedicated and focused artist showing great care and attention to detail as he prepared each course in front of us and presenting it to us proudly knowing that his guests would enjoy every bite. And we did. He treated us like we were royal guests. For each course he served us, he provided an explanation of the ingredients used answering all our questions as we were amazed at how flavorful every bite was. As we took our first bite, he waited momentarily to ensure we were satisfied...we were beyond satisfied. Listen, my fellow inbound travelers of the world coming to Kyoto, Japan, you must stop by the restaurant. See for yourself, the wonders of the world. Your taste buds will love you. You will have dreams of this experience for eternity!!
st course: Salmon-roe sushi. Never had this dish before. It was very tasty; the roe was magnificent.
nd course: Sakura Shrimp Roll. The best fried spring roll I've ever tasted. The shrimp was fresh and the roll wasn't too salty and not greasy at all.
rd course: Quest fish soup with green vegi and mushroom. Mmmm...So tasty!
th course: Salmon Sashimi with green radish, white onion and Umi sauce. The salmon was so fresh and full of flavor.
th course: Beef with egg plant, green pepper and an original sauce. Beef was very tender, the sauce had a hint of sweetness. The egg plant and pepper very flavorful.
th course: Bonita fish, tomatoes and burdock root. My goodness...this was the best course and I literally loved all of them.
th course: Sweet Sea breen fish with zucchini, mustard green soup and a Japanese mint. The chef used the inside of the fish to create the base of the soup; it was so delicious. There's nothing in the world like this soup.
th course: Fried eel with eggplant and black pepper corns in a special soy sauce. Never had eel fried before...it was seasoned perfectly.
th course: The last course had slices of egg plant, radish and a raw egg yoke on the plate to the left. Special rice made only in Japan was in a bowl in the center and the bowl on the right was a mix of beef slices, eggs and a sauce. The chef was kind enough to give us one more slice of Salmon.
Dessert: Sweet Red beans in between two wafers. It was phenomenal! It was served with homemade matcha drink as well as with a roasted tea. I promise that if you are a foodie, you will love this place. Make a...
