I have been thinking about whether I should write an honest review or not but I was fooled by other 5-star reviews so I am writing an honest one here.
After I saw the reviews saying “ coffee was good” I had high hopes. Especially since they have “ Melbourne coffee” in their name I really thought they know what they are doing.
I ordered a flat white but it was shocking. First of all, after I ordered a coffee, 2 staff were being hesitant about making coffee and I heard the convo saying who's gonna make one and both of them sounded like they had no confidence making one or didn't know what to do. And I knew my coffee would taste horrible because of the sound of the way they steamed the milk. It was so painful to listen and of course, it didn't taste good. Couldn't even finish one so I decided to leave.
If my memory was correct, they had a VBM espresso machine that they could make a decent coffee. It made me believe that all the 5-star reviews saying “coffee was good “ were all fake. It's not about whether they can do latte art, they really need basic coffee training before serving this quality of coffee. If you put “ Melbourne coffee “ in the shop name then you should expect people to come for its name with high hopes.
I don't know if there's no barista on that day or if this quality of coffee is their standard but I was very disappointed. The place had a Melbourne vibe for sure but if you are after a good coffee with Melbourne quality then I would recommend you to go to other coffee shops like Common Well coffee shop near this place. Unfortunately, I don't think I will come back for a coffee again. I saw the owner replying to the low-star reviews with attitude and other people left another review about the owner’s response but I genuinely hope the owner understands the quality of coffee being served here is poor. I'm writing this review hoping they can improve their coffee skills like other coffee shops in Kyoto. Please give them a coffee training one...
Read moreAfter visiting the Osaka branch of this chain I was blown away by the service, coffee and food quality, as well as the overall vibes of the shop.
However this was not the case here - the coffee was substandard and I could see it was produced at a basic coffee machine rather than the large, professional standard machine in Osaka (I used to be a barista myself). The staff were kind enough to give a glass of water whilst I waited for the coffee (which came after the food).
The food was great (if slightly small on portion size for the price) when it came so thanks to the chef for that! However I had to wait at least 3-5 minutes for cutlery after asking twice whilst the food was going cold, which I noticed another customer also experienced.
I was seated at a bar next to spray painting cans and in front of what seemed like redecorating materials which shouldn’t have been directly in front of a customer.
The staff were friendly but unfortunately didn’t give very good service.
Hopefully the Osaka chain can send some experience to this branch and help them reach the...
Read moreHad high hopes for a 4.9 place but they took a long time (over 5 minutes) to take the order after we waved them down and there were maybe 6 other people in the place. After we waited 30 minutes for food after we ordered, someone who came in after us got food. we asked about our order and learned they did not place the order with the kitchen. They were also turning other customers away because they ran out of food. It seemed like a clean place but also mid construction. Not giving 1 star because the cook, who seemed like the manager, apologized and offered to make it right so he knew they screwed up and wasted a lot of our time. Gave us our drinks for free. Overall far from a...
