If you’re looking for a bar in Kyoto that feels like home, OAGE is the place to be. The two bartenders are some of the nicest and most welcoming people we met on our trip — they have a way of turning complete strangers into friends within minutes.

The vibe is incredibly fun and relaxed. Whether you want to sing your heart out with karaoke, play darts, or just hang out and chat, there’s always something to do. The drinks are super affordable (which was a nice surprise in Kyoto!), and they even offered to plug in our phones that were dying after a long day of sightseeing above and beyond hospitality.

It's hard to rate this place without pointing out the good aspects. The hosts are nice and enjoy chatting. My daughter really liked it. We had two small pizzas and drinks. The bill should have come to about 4000 yen. We had to pay almost 7000 yen. If this happens with every customer or we had to pay some kind of 'entertainment tax,' then the experience clearly exceeds the price. In the end, it's also my fault because I didn't point it out to the hosts, but for some reason I didn't want to spoil the mood. If you’re looking for a tucked away bar where one can sing their heart out, make new friends and have a great night look no further. Bar OAGE will remind you of nostalgic nights with your friends staying up late drinking and singing. Bartenders were incredibly friendly and struck up many conversations with all their patrons. You’ll feel welcomed, you’ll receive compliments no matter how off pitch your singing is, you will have fun.
